21. TWICE

It was three hours more after our first encounter with Sunmi did we finally go home. Mrs. Yoo had given me a doll, a snake doll to be exact. She said that Sunmi liked the doll very much, and was very fond of it. I had to pull the urge to shudder at that. I couldn't judge ones taste, but if speaking for myself, I hate snakes, I just hate them. Snakes are my least favorite animal, and knowing that someone in this world finds snakes charming, well...

Anyways, when we got home, Jina and Jonghyun were already waiting for us in the foyer. Once we stepped in, the duo stopped pacing the floor, noticing us and speed walking towards us. Tan, Kai and Miho, Taemin's Gorilla, did the same, rushing to their masters.

"Take this to my room." I ordered Tan, who took the snake doll from my hands and into his mouth before walking away with a pat on the head, Kai and Miho following behind. Jina and Jonghyun stared at the passing Tiger's mouth.

"What's that?" Jina asked, her eyes still trained on Tan. I sighed before replying. I really was tired. "It's Sunmis favourite item. Mrs. Yoo gave me. We won't have any use of it since I brought it saying we need it to help her cross over. But I guess that won't be needed anymore because she doesn't need to cross over. Why? Because she's a Guardian. Reaper? Care to explain?"

I looked at Jonghyun with heavy eyelids, while Sehul was having a hard time restraining an impatient Taemin from sprinting upstairs. Lord, the boy was dying for the possessed girl.

Jonghyun raised his hands up as if surrendering. "Look! I told you that this case was messed up and that there were things we didn't know yet. That's why I told not to act so fast. How was I supposed to track a Guardian? That's your job!"

I sighed again, a slow pounding building in my head and adding to my frustrations. My head has been hurting quite often these days, which I assumed was because of my nearing doom. But thankfully, no one had noticed it so far, and I didn't want them to know.

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't be doubting you. I-...I uh...Where's Sunmi?" I asked, completely going off topic because right there and then, I had started recieving confused and worried looks as I massaged my temple. Sometimes it frustrated me that no matter how cold or rude I was to them, somehow they never got angry at me. As if they looked at me as a child who was abondoned by her parents and they let her do whatever the heck she wanted because they felt like her parents neglected her on their parental duties.

I don't even know what I'm saying anymore, I don't even know if I'm making any sense. Thankfully, Jina had already started walking, leading us to the third floor, to Sehul and Taemin's floor.

"You put her in the room next to mine right? Just as I told you?" Taemin inquired as the band headed up the stairs, Jina only rolling her eyes. "Yes Romeo, Juliet is just a door away from yours. Rest assured."

Taemin's cheeks flushed, his eyes going wide as he tried to keep his calm demeanour, but failed miserably. No one said anything to that, save for Sehul and his chuckling.
