September 10th, 2018
It had been two weeks since the interesting encounter between Marianna Smith and Owen Joyner which also meant two weeks since the Marianna - Bruce break up. And even though she had felt guilty when she ran out of the Jacobs' household that summernight, the smile that had been plastered on the girls face hasn't been this big in a while.
Music was playing loudly and coloured lights were shining everywhere as the group of girls walked through a crowd of people to an open spot at the fair. "So what do you guys wanna do next?" Sophia Taylor, a tall, brownhaired girl asked. They all just looked around. " Don't know honestly." Leigh - Anne Winters, the tallest friend and group member answered while her curls swooped around as she turned her head to look at all the festivities. The others just shrugged. "We could always just .... go home ya know." Jenna Stevens had opened her mouth but closed it as soon as she saw a dark blonde stare into her soul with an irritated look on her face. "Jen, it's only 1 o' clock." Delilah spoke up while snapping Elena out of her glare. She glanced at Delilah with an irritated face and focused her full attention on Jenna once again. "I can't go home yet. Owen is throwing a party or 'get together' like he said himself, so my house is full of drunk 18 year old boys." (A/N where i'm from, 18 is the legal drinking age so it's not illegal) "The only friends he has are Charlie and Jer. How bad could it be?" Isabella joked as the Joyner girl sighed. "I wish you were right. But he invited the whole group which means Luke, Alex, Reg, Taylor, Bobby and James are also in my house at this moment." Delilah nodded in confirmation, James had already told her that. The girls looked at eachother in silence, deciding what their next move was going to be.
Someone was about to speak up when they heard a familiar voice. "Marianna? Hey!!" The girl turned to where the sound was coming from. Carolynn Rowland, Jeremy's girlfriend walked up to them greeting the rest of the friendgroup aswell. " Hey Car, how are you? What are you doing here?" She smiled politely in return. "Good, good. I'm here with some friends but was about to go to Jeremy, do you guys wanna come with?" Everyone looked at Elena immediately. She was debating the possibilities in her head for a minute, but spoke up after a minute. "Well i guess we're going home then .."
Carolynn nodded. "Great, i'll text Jer. He told me that Owen asked if you guys were coming with me." This made Elena look up. "He didn't text me at all. " She scrolled through her textmessages and showed the other girl her phone.
Not one message from Owen since last night.
"Well that's strange. Jer said, and i quote, 'Owen asked if Elena, Maria and the rest of the girls are also coming with you.' " This made everyone look at Marianna, who looked confused.
The Smith girl just looked questioning at her friends but didn't say anything. Why did Owen even say her name specifically? It shouldn't matter anyway, he said his sisters name aswell and she's her bestfriend. Easy. She shook her head and searched for her friends, who all seemed to have disappeared. She was about to text her friends when she felt a hand on her shoulder. "You didn't respond immediately and they all just walked away. Kinda sad to be honest." Carolynn chuckled, took Marianna's hand and led her to the rest of their friends.

A wave of 5 seconds of summer music flew the girls way the moment they stepped into Elena's home. Most of the boys were either seated at the table or the couch as they watched Alex and Jeremy do a dance battle. They greeted the girls who sat down on the empty available seats on the couch and the empty chairs. As soon as the song switched over to one kiss by Calvin Harris, Alex stopped dancing and sat down next to Marianna. "I hate this song. I've heard it toooo many times. How much can you play a fucking song on the goddamn radio." Marianna laughed and tried to calm him down. "It's okay Alex, i'll turn it off." She stood up and walked over to Owen who was currently typing away on his phone. "Hey Owen!" No response. "Owen!" Nothing. "Joyner!" He finally looked up. "On last name base huh?" He said while smirking. The girl rolled her eyes. "Just wanted to ask if you could change the song. Alex is going nuts."
He pressed a button on his screen and the song changed. "Thank you." Out of the corner of her eye she saw two people sitting
particularly close to eachother. She knew that the girl had liked him for a while but she didn't think the brownhaired boy would return the feelings. She smiled and made a mental note that she was gonna ask her friend about that later. She started to walk to her place on the other side of the couch again when she heard a voice behind her.
"No problem Smith."
