"She wasn't, if she was, why would she agree to break up? People in love don't do that Delilah! It doesn't work that way."
She stared at the phone, pressed against her palm before facing him again.
"Doe...
Delilah hysterically laughed at her response. "Sure you don't like the guy?"
It fell silent.
"Well.... maybe their is a slight chance that i do..?"
December 15th, 2018
It was currently their 50 minute lunchbreak and 8 people (4 boys/ 4 girls) were staring at a giddy Alex Mercer.
"Tell us!"
"What happened?"
"Who is it?"
"Come on Al! Don't leave us hanging here!"
His friends were throwing questions to the boys head left and right. He had told his friends that he had been on a date with a boy from his chemistry class (ironic huh?) His name was William? Or Willie as he told them. Since the girls were all younger than the boys, most of them didn't know who the Mercer boy was talking about. Alex didn't know if he was happy about that or scared since half of his friends didn't know the boy he was crushing on.
However, one of the girls, Jenna Stevens, had met him a while back after he signed up to be a math tutor. And she needed that desperately, so that's how she came to know the long brownhaired boy. Who was totally in love with the blonde by the way, but the rest didn't need to know that yet.
"We do have to check him though. See if he's good enough for our little Alex." Owen Joyner voiced as he patted his bestfriend on the head. Alex shoved his arm away and rolled with his eyes as Marianna laughed at the interaction, receiving a wink from Owen in return. She tried to grab something from her bookbag as she tried to hide her blushing cheeks. Since she had told Delilah that she liked him, she had been irritatingly nervous around him. The girl scolded herself for that behaviour many many times, but didn't have the feeling that her crush knew that she liked him. His bestfriends did know it though, sending small smirks to her from time to time as they looked from the boy to the girl.
"I agree with Joyner here." Marianna said while opening her waterbottle. An "ofcourse you do" was heard from her side, so soft that only she could hear it though. She glared at Charlie Gillespie who looked at her with an innocent smile. "Thank you Smith." The Joyner boy cheekily replied, sending her another wink.
"Do you have something in your eye? This is the second time you winked at her." Elena Joyner said, totally oblivious to the fact that her brother did in fact not have anything in his eye but was trying to do something completely different. Something she definitely wouldn't like.
"Uhm... y-yeah yeah i do. Can i borrow your mirror so i can see?" Elena rolled her eyes as she looked in her bag. "Nope sorry. Didn't bring it." Owen bit his cheek. "Here take mine." Marianna threw her small mirror at him so he could catch it in time and he did. "Thanks. Ah jep i see it." He fakingly rubbed his eye. "So, all done. " The boy threw it back again, as Maria rolled her eyes. "No problem."
There was a silence falling over them. Not awkward, just comfortable.
That however didn't take long as Isabella Murphy started talking again. "Buuuttt ..... Alex." She turned her head to the blondhaired almost doppelganger of Owen Joyner (the girls never understood how they looked so much alike. It was like they were the same person. On the outside ofcourse.) The Mercer looked scared. "Yeessss?" She folded her hands and looked at him with a serious expression.
"You still didn't tell us how your date was."
He sighed in relief and his whole face lit up. "Well..." he started. "He didn't tell me what we were going to do right? So he blindfolded me as we drove to the destination."
"Kinky." Jeremy smirked, which made him receive and elbow from both Marianna and Isabella.
"So, we drove for a while and when we arrived, he told me to take of the blindfold and we were at a drive in movie theater. And before one of you tells me how 'basic' or 'cheesy' that is, i told him i never been and wanted to go there so."
"Aawwww" the girls echoed.
"And then?" Marianna asked invested.
"Then he pulled out snacks and blankets and we watched the movie. After that we drove for a bit and just... talked. About everything and nothing. And when he dropped me off....." he paused for a second. "I kissed him."
"ALEX!"
"Oh my godd!"
"Good job dude!"
"Look at you making the first move."
"Please tell us there will be a second date." Alex nodded at that, smiling from ear to ear.
"Straight out of a fanfic this one, i tell you."
Charlie looked up at the girls, confused. "A what now?"
Their eyes widened as they looked at eachother in slight panic.
"Nothing you shoud worry about pretty boy." Elena answered. Owen raised a brow at the nickname. "Pretty boy?" His sister just shrugged.
Charlie however, didn't seem to notice the interaction.
"You girls are weird."
