Chapter 12

Ariel had slept for a good two to three hours before she woke up from her dreams. Eric had just got done unpacking and saw that his princess was waking up. Ariel fluttered her eyes open. She looked to her side and didn't see Eric. Eric then walks over to the bed. "Oh, there you are!" Ariel says as she reaches her arms out for him to embrace her. Eric slips into bed and hugs her very tightly. "Sorry if I worried you but I was unpacking." Eric says as he kisses her head. "Oh it's alright. I really need to ease up a little." Ariel said with a giggle. "Oh Ariel, You don't need to change at all. You are perfect the way you are." He says as he taps her nose with his index finger. Ariel blushes. "Now, Carlotta has run a nice warm bath for us. Let's go." Eric says as he picks her up and rushed her to the humongous bathroom. Ariel giggles rather loudly. Eric then set her down in front of the tub. He starts to strip her. Then she undresses him. Soon they were completely stripped of their clothes. Then Eric picked Ariel up and tossed her into the huge bathtub. She laughs at this. Then he gets in himself. Ariel was having a lot of fun. They scrubbed their selves clean and then got out of the tub and dried off. Ariel and Eric then got dressed. Then Max scratches at the door. Ariel goes to investigate the sound. Eric noticed this. "Oh that's just Max. You don't have to let him in if you don't want to." Eric said as he lied on the bed. Ariel opened the door, and Max came running in. Ariel then shuts the door. Max started to pant. "Well, hi there Max! Who's a good boy?" Ariel asked as she scratched the shaggy sheepdog. Max was excited now. Then Ariel lies down on the bed. Max gave them the puppy dog eyes and started to whine. Ariel then patted the bed to show him that it was ok to get on the bed. Max then got excited again and jumped up on the bed. "Woah Ariel. He has never been allowed to lay on the bed." Eric said. "Oh well do you mind? If you do I can pet him in the floor." Ariel asked. Eric smiled. "No I don't mind. To be honest, that was never my rule to begin with. It was my parents' rule." Eric said as he grinned again. "You hear that boy? Ariel is spoiling you!" Eric said as he scratched Max behind the ears. Max panted. He then rolled over begging Ariel to scratch his belly. Ariel giggles as she scratched his belly. Eric smiles at his wife. He was glad to see that she was getting along with his best friend. Eric has had Max since he was a puppy. Ariel continues to play with Max. Eric starts to play with him too. "Who's a good boy?" He asks as he scratched behind his ears. Max panted excitedly. After a while they all took a family nap and enjoyed their peaceful beginning of their new lives.

A couple hours later Ariel and Eric awoke to the sound of a bird hitting the window. They were both startled. "What was that?" Eric asked his wife. "I have no idea." Ariel replied as she scurried to the window. She doesn't see anything at first, but then the bird tried again and slams against the window. Eric looked confused. "What was that about?" Eric asked as he scratched his head. Ariel then recognized this strange bird. It was her seagull friend scuttle. Ariel gasps and quickly opens the window, and just in time too. Scuttle was going to try again. The bird flys through the window and hits the wall. "Scuttle!" Ariel says excitedly. She runs over to the seagull and sits on the floor beside him. "Scuttle, are you ok?" Ariel asked. "Oh yes! I'm fine. Hi Ariel! How was your trip?" Scuttle asked. "Oh it was wonderful. What brings you here?" Ariel asks. Eric looks strangely what he was seeing. Keep in mind that Eric can't communicate with the animals so he is still a little confused about it. Ariel continues to talk to her friend. "Well I'm here to deliver a special message from your father." Scuttle said. Ariel gets very excited. "Oh my goodness! A message from my father?" Ariel asked. "The sea king?" Eric asked as he sat down next to Ariel. "Yes my father has a message for me." Scuttle clears his throat. "His Majesty wishes to see you. He is waiting for you at the beach." Scuttle says. Ariel gasps and kisses scuttle on the head. "Oh thank you scuttle! Eric! Come on let's go! My father is waiting at the beach." Ariel exclaimed as she dragged Eric throughout the palace and through the kingdom until they arrived at the beach. Eric was out of breath by the time they got there. "Phew. Ariel let me catch my breath." Eric said as he bent over and put his hands on his knees. Ariel giggles. After a few moments king Triton emerged from the sea. Ariel looks and runs to him. "Daddy!" She yelled. Eric then stood up and was in awe. The king of the ocean right in front of him. "Oh Ariel! I have missed you so much!" King Triton said to his daughter. "I missed you too Daddy." She says as she hugs him tightly. "Now tell me about this man you married. Is he treating to right? He isn't beating you is he?" He asked as he searched for bruises. Eric looked terrified. He slowly walks towards them. Ariel laughs. "No. Of course not Daddy! Eric loves me with all his heart and I love him with all of my heart." Ariel says as she reaches for Eric's hand. Eric takes it and then stops in front of her father. King Triton looks at him. "Is this true young man?" He asks with a glare in his eyes. Eric gulps. "Y..y...y.. yes...... Sir......." Eric stutters. King Triton then laughs. "Oh Eric. There is no need to fear me. I can see that you truly love my daughter, but if you hurt her in any way, you will be struck by lightning from this trident. Do you understand?" King Triton asked the frightened prince. "Yes sir...... And rightfully so sir." Eric says as he salutes to the king. Ariel and her father both look at him and then each other, and then they burst out laughing. "Son, just call me dad alright?" Triton asked. Eric nodded. Triton then pulls him into a hug. Eric then smiles. He couldn't believe he got to call the king of the sea his dad. They then released from the hug. "Ariel, you must come back to Atlantica. There is a big celebration just for you." King Triton says as he starts to grab her hand and swim down. Ariel pulls her arm back. King Triton then turns around and looks at her. "Ariel? What's wrong?" Ariel looks down at her feet. "Well, daddy I have been wanting you talk to you about that." She says as she tucks a hair behind her ear. "What is it?" Triton asked. "Well, I am a human now, but I still want to come to the sea whenever I want. Is there a way you could make it to where you don't have to be here to change me back?" She asked nervously. "Oh of course. I'm so sorry honey, I totally forgot you were a human now." King Triton says. "It's alright Daddy, I understand." She says with a smile. Eric starts to feel left out. Ariel looks at him and sees this. "Oh I completely forgot. Daddy, Eric is my husband now and he loves everything about the ocean. We were wondering if you could do the same for him?" She asks. Tritons immediately looks concerned. "Oh gee, Ariel I don't know. How do I know he's not going to destroy our kingdom? Or turn us into a tourist attraction?" Triton asked as he looked at Eric. Eric then looked a little hurt, but he also had that caring look in his eyes. "Sir, I know I am not worthy, but I promise I will not do anything to your kingdom except love it. I love everything about the ocean. It's my passion, but if you can't let into your world I will understand. I guess it will be my turn to sing Ariel's song." Eric says with a sigh. King Triton then saw that his heart was true. "Alright I will transform both of you." King Triton says with a smile. Ariel gasps and squeals. "Oh Thank you Daddy!" She exclaimed as she jumped and gave him a really big hug. Triton smiles. "You're welcome sweetheart." He says as he puts her back down on the ground. He then lifts his trident up and points to the newly wedded couple. His magic then surrounded the couple. Ariel and Eric both turned into merpeople. Eric looked like a five year old boy on Christmas morning. "Now whenever you want to change back, come to the surface and touch the beach and think about what you want to be. If you wish to become a merperson, you will have to stand in the water and think about being a merperson. You must be touching the water though." Triton warned. "Oh wow! I can't believe this! I'm a merman!" Eric exclaimed as he looked at his new blue tail. "Yes but remember if you break our deal you can no longer be a merman." Triton warned again. "Yes sir! I won't let you down sir." Eric said with a huge grin on his face. Triton nods. "Ok now that that's settled, come on! Let's go to the celebration!" King Triton exclaimed as he dived into the water. Ariel smiled at her husband. "Are you ready baby?" She asked. Eric nodded very excitedly. "Alright let's go." Ariel said as she grabs his hand. Then they both jumped into the water and headed to Atlantica.
