-Flashback:  -

"Please, I did it because I had no other choice! I've never meant to betray you, I swear!!" The man kneeling on the ground pressed himself even harder on the floor beneath him, hoping it would provide him some sort of protection.

Though, it was useless. No one could possibly hide from the freezing and terrifying look the person sitting behind a massive table was giving him.

The silence that followed after man's cries and pleads was the worst kind of torture one could experience. The tension was so great one could possibly cut it with a knife.

"I've lost fifty of my men, solely because of your treason. Do you know how they used to punish such actions in the past?"

His strong, yet cold voice echoed in the room. It was the type of voice that crawls under your skin and causes you chills. There was a small pause during which the person waited for the man to answer his question.

"Death." He said after running out of patience. Man on the floor only trembled and pressed his forehead yet again a bit harder against the floor. Quiet sobs escaped his mouth. He should've died back then, it would be faster and less painful.

"Fortunately for you," Kongpop got up from his seat and made a few steps towards the huge window behind him, "we're not in middle age, thus I won't kill you." He stated with his hands resting behind his back and gazing through the see-through glass.

For the first time since he was brought there, man's head lifted. His teary eyes were sparkling with hope.

"Thank-"

"I haven't finished yet." Kongpop turned around and shot him with his sight. The man held his breath and cursed in his mind. Any mistake could get him easily killed.

"I've heard your betrayal was caused by your attempt to protect your family?" he asked with an unchanging facial expression.

"Y-Yes..." The man nodded, fearing where this conversation was going.

"You have three children, two twin girls and a boy, correct me if I'm wrong." He continued and the man nodded again. "Which one are you willing to give up on?"

Man's face froze upon hearing that question.

"Take the son, he's the oldest." He whispered after a short pause, apologizing countless times in his mind.

"The deal is set then. Get yourself out of this country and never come back if you wish to live. Your son is under my surveillance and responsibility from now on." Kongpop signed to the guards standing next to the door and they moved at once, violently grabbing the man and dragging him out of the room.

-End of flashback-

Kong didn't know why this scene popped in his mind when he spaced out. He's been unconsciously thinking about Arthit the whole morning. Well, it wasn't like he didn't do it every morning.

Should I tell him his dad is still alive? He thought to himself while frowning. But, it is the only thing that bounds him to me. If I take the revenge away from him, he won't have any reason to associate with me anymore. Kongpop's chest tightened.

I don't want that. I don't want to lose him again, not this time.

Kong let out a sigh he was unconsciously holding in and leaned back on his chair. He felt so complicated.

Sudden knocking on the door made him come back to reality. Although he told the guards not to let anyone in, for the time being, expecting privacy and a bit of peace as a boss was probably too much to ask.
