Just as Kongpop ordered, Arthit was released after four days with his neck fully exposed. The wound starting almost behind his ear stretched all the way to the front. It was nowhere near healed yet but it could be exposed without bleeding.
Arthit was strictly prohibited from stretching his neck too much or practicing quick moves so the wound wouldn't open up. When he asked May why she didn't patch it up, the only response he received was a handful of medications forced in his hands.
"Come if anything happens and try to avoid Kongpop for now. I don't want to see you with any other injury for the time being." She let him go with that goodbye speech and he found himself standing in an empty hallway.
What the hell am I supposed to do now? Arthit thought while wandering around, trying to find an exit or anyone to show him directions. The medications he was holding weren't making the situation any less difficult, prohibiting Arthit to open any doors.
"For fuck's sake!" He cursed when a few small boxes with pills fell down from the big pile he struggling to hold.
"You need a hand?" A soft voice from behind him asked. Female's voice.
Arthit turned around which only caused his rolls of bandages to fall down as well.
"It seems like it." He admitted, feeling a bit embarrassed. The girl only smiled sweetly and picked all the items on the floor.
"I'm Namtan." She introduced herself after they walked in silence for a few moments.
"Nice to meet you, I'm-"
"Arthit, I know." She interrupted him. "Everyone knows, you really shouldn't bother with introducion at this point."
"Oh, really..." Arthit drifted away to his thoughts. Was his dad really so famous around that everyone knows him? Or am I on some kind of murder list and everyone is after me? Is that why? He frowned, putting all his guards up in an instant.
"You don't have to frown so much." Namtan giggled. "We know you because of your extraordinary arrival. You took down one of the two members who were supposed to kidnap you with just one hit. That alone would have spread quickly but there's also the fact that you took on our boss. During your first meeting, on top of that." She explained she could read his mind.
"I don't think it's that special." Arthit muttered but felt a light heat rushing to his cheeks. It felt good to be flattered by a pretty girl.
"You survived, he let you live. Nobody else in here ever had even half of the guts you'd showed few days ago. It's impressive and admirable, but also quite worrying. Was it carelessness or boldness? Everyone wants to find out. You should be careful about choosing your group." Namtan continued with complimenting but this time, there was also a tone of concern.
"I'm intending to kill that man." Arthit half-whispered with a deadly-serious face. Namtan stopped walking and looked deep into his eyes when he turned around to face her.
"I'll do you a favor since you're a new member and I've taken quite a liking in you. There are many people who have the same aim as you do. I don't know your reasons and motives, but the one who kills the current boss becomes the next one. There has been only one exception to this rule when Mr. Prachaya disappeared. Kongpop, as his only descendant, was offered his post and agreed. He couldn't decline anyway since he would be oppressed and killed otherwise by the new leader. It would be a revenge for his father's tyranny. " Namtan explained while still maintaining eye contact.
"Why are you telling me all of this?" Arthit asked, a bit suspicious. It was a ton of new and helpful information. Information he didn't ask for but needed.
"Because everyone here hides their true intention, they group and re-group depending on their likings. You need to be cautious and careful since you can never trust anyone here completely. Even I can have the intention of becoming the new boss. That makes you a burden for me. Killing within the members isn't allowed but neither completely forbidden." She smiled and shrugged her shoulders.
Arthit felt a cold sweat on his forehead and the back of his neck.
They preceded to walk in silence again.
"So... I'm quite in some danger." Arthit summed up after thinking it through.
"Sharp one, aren't ya?" Namtan grinned and intentionally bumped into him as a playful gesture. "You're right, although a bit of a fan club has already formed as well, it's not like there are only enemies." She explained.
"Fan club?" Arthit didn't understand.
"Have you met Bright already?" She asked and tried to hide her smirk.
"He was about to die the first time I met him." He remembered.
"Oh, he's always like that. Everyone wonder's why he's still alive. They say idiots die the last so there might be some truth to that?"
"He's the founder of my fun club?" Arthit asked.
"Wrong! He's the leader of your Anti-fan club." Namtan explained and couldn't hold her laugh in any longer.
"Huh?"
"You'll understand. This is your room, I hope you remember the way." She suddenly said when they reached a room with door number 0206.
"That's rather unexpected but yes, I tried to remember it while listening to you." Arthit nodded with a thankful look.
"Great. Let's put those things down and I'll show you around a bit, how about that?" She asked when she handed him the key with the same number on it as on the door.
"How come you have it? I thought you met me by a chance?" Arthit wondered aloud.
"Nothing in here happens without a reason." For the first time, her face became completely serious. "But you'll find out about that very soon."
I'm running two days late with the update, I'm SO SORRY! So much more is about to happen. I need you to understand that ArtKong relationship will have very complicated and slower development. It won't be quick but the story is expected to be long and I'm so gonna make it worth it.
BEYOND WORTH IT.
I will do my best to keep the plot interesting even with the current lack of lovely ArtKong scenes.
Also, I hope you won't completely hate Namtan, she wasn't a negative character in sotus in my opinion and I want keep it that way in this story as well. Just swallow some meaningless, very light flirting.
