Byron

"Are you just going to stay quiet the entire time?" I asked Xavier. She still didn't speak. She just continued to pack up Khari's room since we were moving to the estate tomorrow. She was packing up her parents house and I packed up mine. "Angel say something." I practically begged. She sighed and began taping the box closed and went to grab the marker but I stopped her. "Look at me." She wouldn't even glance at me. "How many times do I have to apologize?" I asked her. "There is nothing to apologize about. I'm concerned for my daughter and the fact that her father could've possibly been taken away by the one person I thought I could trust." She said before walking away. I watched her walk out of the room.  I sighed deeply and grabbed the box, bringing it down stairs to see her grand parents sitting in the living room. "Byron. Hi. I didn't know you were here." Her grand mother said as she hug me. "Came to help finish packing. I have to go get more boxes from upstairs. It was good seeing you." Xavier still wouldn't look at me. I was at a lost and completely unsure of what to do. Her grandfather came in just as I was taping up the last of Khari's room. "Need some help son?" He asked nicely, looking around the room. "I just need the boxes marked." I said handing him the marker. "She won't look at you huh?" He asked. I shook my head. "Nope. It's not like ion deserve it. I mainly blame myself. Maybe I should've just stayed away." Her grandfather sighed and took a seat.  "Now that wouldn't be fair to BaKhari. She needs you whether her mother agrees or not. She's always needed you especially now. She doesn't know any better. Don't throw in the towel just yet son. I know it's not what you want.Just work with her." I chuckled and took a seat by the window, watching Khari and Aiden run around with the dog. "You know I remember the first time I met Xavier. It was after one of my basket ball games and her friend was working on the school paper so they interviewed a few people from the team. I could instantly tell she hated me, when when she agreed to start tutoring me. But eventually, she got to know me for who I really was and then I turned around and messed it up bigger than I'd ever thought. I've never been able to forgive myself for what I did until the day we decided to work things out. It was then that I promised that I wouldn't let her wall away so easily. I can't do that. Not to our daughter, us or ourselves. It's hard but my family is worth whatever cost." I heard the old man sigh. I turned to look at him. "The moment your family became more important was the moment you began to do the right thing. You are doing the right thing." I smiled and nodded. He was right. When Kinsley and Zion came to the door and told me all of this the first and only thing ran through my mind was my family. Nothing was more important than them.

That night Xavier was quiet and it was more than usual. It's like she had a lot on her mind but knowing that JoJo was involved and he was around our daughter for so long only made this situation that much worse. It put her on edge and I could see that she was shutting down. Knowing that she would wake up in the middle of the night  and go to the fridge for a snack I decided to run by the store while she was putting Kari to bed. I took my time and when I came back I knew for sure she was in the bed asleep.

I set up the kitchen counter with different snacks and her favorite flavored water and placed candles on the floor. Soon I heard her making her way down the stairs I took a seat at the counter. "Byron, what's going on here?" She asked me groggy. "I knew you were upset and I knew you would be up for your snack soon so I decided to do something nice to cheer you up because I know this hasn't been the best time for us and I know it's harder on you because of our daughter but this is to let you know I'm here." I explained all in one breath. She smiled sweetly at me and kissed me. I smiled against her lips and pulled her closer to me. "Thank you." She whispered to me as she laid her face in the crook of my neck. I was content now that she was happy once again.

Xavier
"Mommy is this our new house?" BaKhari asked me as we finally came to a stop in front of a beautiful 2 story house with bay windows and French doors surrounded by black iron metal fences that required a password or approved access. There was a play ground,a huge back yard and a pool as well as a lake. There was a 6 car garage, a huge kitchen and dining room, a spacious living room and 5 bedrooms with bathrooms to match. There so much room for only 3 people. Well now 4. I've only been so crazy about this whole situation because I went to the doctor to find out if I was pregnant or not and I still have yet to tell Byron that I am. One of our little date nights have caught up with us again and I know right now is not the time for another kid. I can't handle the same situation as BaKhari. I love my baby girl and I thank the lord and Byron for her but it's entirely too soon. We just got back on track and another baby will only tear it apart. Khari is only 3. I just won't be able to handle it if Byron skips out again. I felt Khari's little hands grabbing my face only to look into her bright brown eyes. I smiled and pecked her forehead before picking her up and carrying her back downstais with me to the kichen to feed her since we have been up since about 5 this morning moving. I placed her in her seat at the island and fixed her a quick peanut butter and banana with honey sandwhich and a cup of apple juice before turning on Disney Jr and heading to the living room where the movers had began placing everything. I directed them where to place the funiture knowing I would only go back and rearrange everything to my liking and felt a pair of arms wrap around my waist and a kiss on the side of my neck. I smelled his cologne making my body relax into him and exhale deeply. "Everything going good in here?" Byron asked as we watched the movers bring more things inside. I simply nodded and suddenly became self consious when he placed his hands on my hardening stomach. "Why are you so jumpy?" He asked me. I turned to look at him with his arms still wrapped around me and my hands against his chest. "No reason. Just tired is all. I'm gonna take Bugg upstairs for a nap with me once she's finished. Think you can finish up here?" I asked softly. He smiled and nodded, pecking my lips and encouraging me to go ahead. I sighed deeply and went into the kitchen to see Khari asleep and her face covered in peanut butter. I chuckled, took a picture and cleaned her up before taking her upsairs with me. I laid her down and wrapped my arms around her, snuggling her closely to me and soon dozed off.

I awakened to hearing high pitcheed giggles in the house and no Khari in the bed with me. I looked outside to see the sun setting. I stretched, brushed my teeth and made my way downstairs, following the sound. "No daddy. That's not right either." I heard Khari tell him. "How would you know?" He asked her with a chuckle. "Because that's not how mommy does it." I heard her respond causing me to giggle. "Well we'll just have to ask mommy when she gets up." Byron told her smartly. "She's gonna tell you, you're wrong." He chucklewd and tickled her. I put my phone away after recording part of the moment and walked into the living room. "What are you two up to?" I asked causing them both to turn around. "Nothing." Byron answered before Khari could tell me. "Mommy, daddy is coloring the picture wrong." I smiled and looked over their shoulder to see Byron's side full of colors and wild while Khari's side was neat and colorful. "I see. Khari. Daddy isn't so good a these things but he is trying." I told her as I sat between the two of them. She sighed dramaically. "Fine. Here mommy help daddy." I chuckled while he looked at her as if she'd grwon two heads. "Come on daddy. Let's color the right way." I told him causing him to push me. This is what I don't want to change but sooner or later it's going to happen. Ready or not.
