Chapter 6

Byron

I texted Xaivier and told her to bring Bakhari over so we have breakfast and she could meet my mother. She was out grocery shopping again for the 10th time this week and knowing her she's getting Kari toys. I heard the doorbell ring just as I finished making my bed. I went to the door thinking it was them and instead got a bad suprise. "Well geez Byron. You don't look happy to see me." I sighed as she pushed her way in. "What are you doing here Kinsley?" She threw her hair over her shoulder ignoring my question. "Are we expecting someone?" I shook my head. "You no longer get to ask me things like that." She put her hand on her hip. "Well last I checked I am your fiance' so I do have that right darling." Just as I was about to speak  I heard 2 little knocks. My heart dropped. "Kinsley. Get out now." She chuckled. "Worried Ima scare your little play toy off." I cursed under my breath. I opened the door and saw the beautiful smiles spread across their faces. "Daddy." I chuckled and took Khari into my arms. Xai looked me over. "You okay?" I nodded. "Yeah. Just got some unwanted company. Come on in." I let them in and closed the door behind her. "Oh who's this little cutie?" Kinsley asked. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. ""This is my daughter Bakhari." She took a deep breath and took a seat. "Daughter. Wow. We never discussed that Byron." I rolled my eyes. Xai cleared her throat. "Kinsley this is Khari's mother Xavier." Kinsley nodded. "Hello." She added. "And you are?" Xai asked.

"Kinsley Wellington. Byron's fiance'." I shook my head. "Kinsley, you said no. That doesn't mean you can just come in here and declare that for yourself." She scoffed. "I didn't say no." I shook my head. "You didn't say yes either. Now if you could leave before you stir more trouble it would be great. You can see yourself out." Xai rolled her eyes and grabbed Khari, walking towards the door. "Xavier wait." She stopped. I walked over to her. "You lied to me Byron." I shook my head. "I swear I didn't. I proposed to her 8 months ago and she didn't answer. I told her I would give her time. I left and come to find out she was dating one of my teammates. I left for good and came here. Everything I said to you yesterday was no lie. She just showed up on my doorstep. I still have no clue how she got my address." She sighed and wiped a few tears. "Xai please don't run away from me again. Not now. I just got you back and as crazy as this sounds I need you and Khari in my life." Khari wiped Xai's tears and kissed my cheek. She's a smart 2 year old and Xavier has done an amazing job so far. I don't want to miss anymore in either of their lives. She nodded. "Fine but get her out of here." I nodded. "Go and take Khari in the backyard and I'll be out in a minute." I pecked her lips and Khari's. 

"Playing the family man role huh?" I folded my arms. "What did you come here to accomplish huh? You left me for my teammate. You didn't accept my proposal. I moved on. It was obvious that you already did so what are you here for?" She folded her arms. "I realized I made a mistake not answering you. I love you and everything about you. I don't want anyone else but I was scared so I ran Byron." I shook my head. "Seems like you had that revelation a little too late. You gotta go." Just as she was walking out my mother was walking in. She looked at me weirdly. "Wanna tell me what's going on here?" I sighed and took the bags from here. "She popped up right before Xavier and Bakhari and tried to start trouble. Finally got her to leave." Her face lit up at Kari's name. "Well where are they boy?" I chuckled. I began walking to the backyard to see them sitting in grass talking and giggling. "Um. Xavier. Bakhari. This is my mother Sanya Harrison."

I felt way too many emotions to explain since I've seen Byron. "Do you think this is the best idea Xai?" I sighed and rolled my eyes as my grandfather asked this for the millionth time this morning. "Yes papi. dios mio. Calm down. I'm taking Bugg to meet her grandmother. You're more nervous for me than I am for myself." He sighed. "That's what fathers do. They worry. Hija just be careful please." I nodded and hugged him. I parked my car in front of a beautiful home and saw 2 cars in the driveway, so I assumed his mother was here also.

I told Khari to knock and I instantly knew something was wrong because I heard yelling. When he opened the door I could tell he was happy to see us but something was bothering him.  "You okay?" He nodded. "Yeah. Just got some unwanted company. Come on in." He let us in and closed the door behind me. "Oh who's this little cutie?" The girl asked. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. ""This is my daughter Bakhari." She took a deep breath and took a seat. "Daughter. Wow. We never discussed that Byron." He rolled his eyes. I cleared my throat. "Kinsley this is Khari's mother Xavier." Kinsley nodded. To see another woman in his house half dressed as he held my daughter made my heart drop and pissed me off. I watched as they interacted until she spoke to me. "Hello." She added. "And you are?" I asked. "Kinsley Wellington. Byron's fiance'." He shook his head. "Kinsley, you said no. That doesn't mean you can just come in here and declare that for yourself." She scoffed. "I didn't say no." He shook his head. "You didn't say yes either. Now if you could leave before you stir more trouble it would be great. You can see yourself out."

I rolled my eyes and grabbed Khari, walking towards the door. "Xavier wait." I stopped. He walked over to me. "You lied to me Byron." He shook his head. "I swear I didn't. I proposed to her 8 months ago and she didn't answer. I told her I would give her time. I left and come to find out she was dating one of my teammates. I left for good and came here. Everything I said to you yesterday was no lie. She just showed up on my doorstep. I still have no clue how she got my address." I sighed and wiped a few tears. "Xai please don't run away from me again. Not now. I just got you back and as crazy as this sounds I need you and Kari in my life." Khari wiped my tears and kissed his cheek. I nodded. "Fine but get her out of here." He nodded. "Go and take Khari in the backyard and I'll be out in a minute." He pecked my lips and Khari's.

I took Khari and sat her outside. We played peek a boo and hide and seek. We were sitting in the grass talking and giggling when I heard the door open. "Um. Xavier. Bakhari. This is my mother Sanya Harrison." I stood and picked Khari up. "Bakhari. This is your grandma Sanya. Can you say hi?" She waved and reached for her. Mrs. Harrison wiped her eyes. "She's beautiful Xaiver." I smiled. "Thank you Mrs.Harrison." She shook her head and talked to Khari. "Call me Sanya." I nodded and took a seat as she played with Khari.
