"Her will reads," the attorney started, "I leave Daryl Cavendish a free ice cream coupon, no expiration date-"

Daryl stopped him, "She really is the worst," she laughed. "Sorry, sorry, keep going." Darryl motioned for him to continue.

The man nodded and cleared his throat, "As well as the estate and land. To Diana, I leave all family heirlooms. Daryl, I wish for you to keep them safe until Diana is able to properly take care of them." He finished off reading. "For the twins I leave my dresses, it won't be long until they finally fit into them. For the staff..."

The will was incredibly long, considering that Bernadette listed all individual staff members.

"What's this?" Daryl turned over the envelope Diana had given her. It had her name neatly written, but it was definitely not written by her niece. She did in fact recognize it as Bernadette's handwriting.

"I found it on mom's drawer." Diana said.

"What were you doing in her room?" Daryl asked, her gaze now focused down on Diana.

Diana quickly looked down, she was afraid of her aunt's glare. Diana didn't know why her aunt seemed to hate her so much.

"I... I missed her. I just wanted to..." Diana couldn't properly get the words out. She missed her mother, she missed her calming presence, her sent. She thought that maybe her room would help get that feeling of comfort back, but it didn't. The familiar smell of her mother's sent was long gone.

"You're only hurting yourself by doing that." Daryl knew very well what Diana felt, she was the same when her own mother died.

Sure she was a cold-hearted bitch, and she wasn't very fond of her mother, but even so, she'd go into her mother's room, and she just felt lonelier and lonelier. She always expected something, in which later on, as years passed she figured it was her approval she wanted. And it pained her that she wouldn't be able to prove herself to her mother anymore.

"I'll be locking your mother's room," Daryl decided.

"What?! You can't do that!" Diana exclaimed. "it's my mom's room! You can't keep me away from it!" She cried.

"It's my house. Your mother left it for me, I can keep you away from any room I wish." Daryl argued back.

"I hate you!" Diana yelled, running off before she had to be forced for a lecture from her aunt.

"Brat..." Daryl mumbled.

She clenched the envelope.

She didn't want to open it, but...

"That dork wrote my name in it for a reason," Daryl sighed, letting her curiosity get the best of her, she opened the envelope.

Inside was an old family picture. It was her, Bernadette and their mother with the first place trophy.

"God I looked like such a mess back then," Daryl frowned, seeing her stupid grin and disheveled state. That was the last time they went to the beach.

She turned the photo, knowing Bernadette, she certainly wrote something on it.

'I wish for Diana to experience the same joy and excitement we did when we were younger.'

Daryl now felt obligated to keep her sister's promise more than ever. Not that she planned on breaking it, but the photo did encourage her.

"Ew! Mom! What are we doing here!" Merrill whined, swatting away the mosquitos from her face.
