I can't remember where I saw it that inspired this idea but it's an original idea either way.
So you know how the classic fairytale where a hero must defeat the dragon and save the damsel in distress? Well what if it was a bit different?
You can change anyone's gender to ya liking.
The Queen of the kingdom had a affair with the king of the dragon kingdom and ended up pregnant. When the MC turns 5, the king finds out about the affair and that the MC isn't their kid. To keep this under wraps, the king abandons the MC at this old abandoned castle. The MC basically grows up at this castle and word got around that a princess is there 'waiting to be saved' from a dragon.
Of course, plot twist, the MC is the dragon. They are a half-breed that has a human form and a dragon form. They also hate liars because of you know....trauma and because of all the people who claim they 'killed the dragon'.
I just think this would be a cool story.
