Natalie's POV

"Do not call me that, EVER again. That part of me died a long time ago and I am not proud of the acts I committed under that name." His head bobbed up and down to show his understanding of the matter and I kneeled in front of the couch he sat on. Grabbing some moisturizer and a burn solution I mixed the two in a bowl provided from the kit I grabbed in the Medical wing. Dipping the gauze in the solution I looked at Poe who was watching me intently.

"I need you to remove your shirt," I said as monotone as I could. A small smile stretched from his lips. "You want another look? I don't blame you." My eyebrows creased in confusion as he laughed. "Come on Nat, you think I wasn't awake when you wrapped my ribs? I saw how you looked at this beautiful body." The teasing was getting to me so I held up a pair of scissors. "You take it off or I cut it off." His hands slowly moved to his crotch and I slapped him. "Your shirt you dumbass."

He did and my breath hitched in my throat again. This man was beautiful. Focusing on his burns just above his stomach I got to work. "This is going to sting," I warned. As the solution-soaked cloth made contact with his skin, he hissed at the touch. Eventually, the pain subsided as he breathed a sigh of relief, the heat of the burns subsiding with the cool mixture. After I finished I checked his stitches and grimaced, noticing I would have to replace the bandages and clean the wound. But that would be for tomorrow. Since it was getting late, I wheeled Poe into the new mess hall. This one was different from the one on Yavin.

The one on Yavin was outdoors, with a roof that would be used in case of rain. This one was strictly indoors, with very packed tables, loud voices bouncing off of walls. It was taking people a bit to get used to the new environment. Being uprooted from Yavin wasn't easy, especially for me since it was my fault. But that was the price you paid for fighting against one of the biggest powers in the galaxy.

Cheers spread and people stood on their tables watching for the man who almost died saving the resistance. But my heart ached for the people who never got to come home and get clapped for, the ones who died or were captured by the First Order. But now was not the time to linger on what has happened in the past. Now was the time to make sure that Poe was happy. His bright smile lit his face up as people came over and shook his hand, or pat him on his shoulder. Wheeling him to the buffet, I made him what he wanted and I just grabbed an apple.

We sat down with Finn, Snaps, Beaumont, and the new guy....what was his name again? Making sure to sit as far from him as possible, I plopped next to Finn, so Poe could be at the end of the table. "Hey Finn, how you doing?" I asked softly. His head was down and seemed to be in distress. "Ok, we just haven't heard from Rey since we left and she is starting to make me worried." The new guy who I forgot his name (Dekon) snickered. "She's most likely dead. Who was she going to see? Luke Skywalker? He died years ago."

Everyone snapped in his direction. His sunken eyes filled with amusement. Finn's face was even more horrified. Taking his hand gently I gave it a squeeze. I whispered to him in a hushed voice that she was most definitely alive, that Lea wouldn't have sent her if she had a sliver of doubt. He looked better after I had talked to him but the doubt was still there. "Anyways," Finn said, changing the subject. "Are you only having an apple?" Slowly nodding I turned the crisp red fruit in my hand. Just looking at it, it made me sick, and I smiled at Finn. "Yeah, honestly I'm not that hungry."

Beaumont gave me a weird look but shrugged it off. "Hey guys, I think I'm going to pack it in, I am super tired right now," Poe said noticing the atmosphere. Standing, I held onto his wheelchair and before we could go, Dekon hollered after us. "Bye-bye anorexic girl!" Shooting him a glance, because I knew it was true, I quickly wheeled Poe out.
