Oswald and Alex both had ended up getting sprayed with fear gas that night. They're both better now, but the press had released pictures and even compared Oswald to a chicken. Ivy found that amusing.
Safe to say neither Oswald nor Alex found it as amusing as she did. Thankfully they didn't find out it was me and Ivy who turned off the lights. We'd probably be dead if they did.I also have been thinking a lot about things concerning my stay here. After all, I came here thinking my sister could help me out remembering the life I had before whatever gave me amnesia happened. But not only do I still have no idea who I was before, but I also feel worthless. I am only leeching off while I stay here. I have nothing to contribute and that was really getting to me. I've also been thinking about the question I had asked Ivy.
I decided to go talk to Alex, after all, she is supposed to be helping me. Right now she was doing some training since she had a bit of free time in her hands. Though when I went there she didn't hear me when I called her so I got closer to her, which caused me to almost be hit. Thankfully Alex stopped in time.
"Jesus, Rosie, you need to be more careful I almost hit you!"
"Sorry, I just wanted to talk to you about something.", I say, playing with the ends of my hair.
"I mean I'm pretty busy here so can you be quick about it?", she asks as she walks over to grab her water bottle.
"Well, I just... I want to... I want to speed up this whole remembering process. It's been months already and there's still so much I don't remember, I can't feel it."
Alex sighs as she shakes her head.
"Rose we've talked about this already. You have to be patient with this stuff, it's not all just going to come rushing back. And even if it did, it wouldn't be doing you any good."
"I just want to know what I was good at. I must've been good at something! Something that maybe will make me useful in some way. So I have something to do here. I just want to be useful in some way. I must have something."
"Okay Rosie stop, you being here is enough. You don't need to be good at something, all you need to do is be here. You shouldn't be worrying about that, being my sister is enough. I'm going back to my training. But you really need to stop thinking about this shit, you hear me?" she takes one last drink of her water before going back to training.
I sigh.
"Loud and clear", I say, though not loud enough for Alex to hear me.
Later Oswald, Alex, and Zsasz go to this new business that Barbara Kean, the woman who used to own the now Iceberg Lounge, had opened up. Ivy and I manage to convince Oswald and Alex to let us come along.
When we entered I couldn't help but admire the place, it had classy decor and weapons displayed in lit-up rotating gun racks and simple gun racks."My, my!", Oswald chuckles, looking around the establishment.
"Well, come on in, I guess.", Barbara says by her desk before turning around to face Oswald.
"Word was it you were dead.", he says, walking closer towards Barbara as he chuckles. "Imagine my surprise when I hear you've popped back alive and gone and opened a brand new business."
As Oswald talked, Alex and Zsasz began looking through the guns with the excitement of children in a candy store. Ivy and I were also looking through the merchandise, though with far less enthusiasm than them.
"We're not open yet.", Barbara states, her voice neutral.
Oswald looks around, "Looks pretty open to me."
