Air, the first thing I feel is a rush of air. I feel my lungs being filled with it. Breathing it as if they have been without it for weeks.
Ringing, it's the second thing I experience. A small sharp ringing in my ears. It's agonizing, making my headache especially as it continues.
Light, as I attempt to open my eyes I'm blinded by a bright light. I slowly open my eyes, the white light causing me to squint as I try to get used to it.

I slowly start to come to my senses, and I try to look around. As I sit up from the bed I was laying on, I get a rush of dizziness.

"Whoa! Be careful there Darling."

A young girl with bright green eyes comes up to me and helps me sit up.

"Who are you?", I asked, my voice hoarse and tired.

She smiled down at me.

"I'm Queenie."

I look around the room, it was clean with little furniture, but clearly not a hospital room. It seemed more like a spare bedroom turned into an at-home nursing room.

"Where am I?", I asked turning back to her.

"You don't remember anything, do you?", she asked as if she already knew the answer.

I look around the room again, searching for something to spark some memory. This all felt familiar in some way, but my mind was completely blank. The only memory I had was of darkness and the feeling of suffocating.

"No... I- I don't.", I say staring out to space.

Queenie gently grabs my shoulder, making me whip my head towards her.

"You were... you suffered something... big. You went through something big and bad, you almost died." She said it as if she couldn't find the exact words to describe what happened, or didn't want to.

"What- What was- was it?"

She slowly lets go of my shoulder, biting the inside of her cheek. She looks down staring at nothing as I had done.

"Queenie?"

She whips her head up, quickly placing a gentle smile on her face. She delicately places her hand on mine.

"That doesn't matter now. What matters is that you're okay. And this amnesia you have will slowly go away, you'll see. You just need a little help remembering, Alex is going to help you with that.", she says patting my hand.

"Alex?"

"You're sister, she's going to be so happy to see you. Though let's not get ahead of ourselves, you must be starving! I'll go get you some food." She taps my knee before walking towards the door.

"Wait!"

She stops and turns to me, raising her eyebrows, telling me to go on.

"What- what's my name?"

"Rose, Rosabelle Darling. Something out of a storybook isn't it?", she chuckles before leaving.

"Yeah, it is.", I say to the empty room, smiling.

Queenie brings me food and I scarfed down everything, almost to the point I wanted to puke. Afterward, I tried getting up from the bed but Queenie wouldn't let me, saying I needed my rest. At least she brought me some books to pass the time, apparently, they were mine. As I read through the pages memories of reading in bed at night with a warm drink, would come back to me.

Then when I drank a cup of tea, a faint memory of me gardening and making tea came back to me. But those memories had a strange feeling to them, almost a bad one. I ended up dropping the cup, making me feel horrible and apologize over and over again.
