Sorry that this is a short chapter, do you guys want longer or shorter chapters? :)
Also I promise that the plot will pick up soon :)) Anyway, hope you enjoy!I raised my eyebrows at the pair, confusion making my forehead crease slightly,
"Join the line sunshine," Dominic commented his hand reaching out gesturing to my group, I looked at him in astonishment, how could he just brush it off like that. I opened my mouth preparing to retort something before it snapped shut as his eyes darkened and he raised one eyebrow at me. I sent a pleading glance towards Valentina as I began to turn round but she just ignored my gaze, moving towards Darius. I shook my head annoyance and confusion combing in my veins, I made my way back towards the line we were stood in ignoring the questioning glances I was getting following Dominic silently as he guided us back to the house,
"Training tomorrow," he stated, before his gazed moved to me giving me a pointed glare before adding, "starts at 6, not after 6. Your free to do whatever you want today," he finished with a shrug, turning on his heel walking towards the tall doors,
"Dominic I-" I began before I was interrupted by the slam of a door and the disappearance of a dark figure. I shook my head letting out a loud huff before spinning on my heel and going to my room before any questions I didn't know the answers too could be asked.
I slammed the door shut, choosing to ignore the fact I was acting like a moody teenager. I let my body fall against the door and head fall back, I tried to grasp one of the many thoughts running through my head. I felt the urge to scream rising in my throat, pushing it down I opened my door jogging down the stairs and straight through main entrance only stopping once I was outside and walking alone on the grass. I picked up the pace when I saw another group laughing in one of the corners, I let my head fall down and pulled down my hood shielding my features. I couldn't help but let out a sigh of relief when I arrived outside the training room, I slipped off my jacket and wrapped my hands carefully letting my shoulders relax at the familiar feeling off the rough material against my skin. I let myself absorb the silence and allow my sense to relax and just use the muscle memory to take control. My brain immediately flew to the choosing ceremony, the bright light, everyone calling me golden girl and now me having golden magic, Valentina ignoring my glances, even the emotionless masks everyone had, and Dominic ignoring the painfully obvious glances I was sending to him. My brain filled with images with Dominic, him being..well..close to nice to me after my fight, then just ignoring me the next day, I felt my breathing pick up and my punches become stronger. I stopped myself from groaning out loud when all I could think about was Dominic, I channeled all my annoyance and anger into my punching. I could feel my knuckles start to bleed and become aggravated, I carried on nonetheless, letting all my sadness change to anger, causing my breathing to become ragged. I felt my adrenaline start to wear off, and stepped back from the punching bag let myself hunch over and attempt to control my breathing. As I did, I let my gaze travel around the room and linger on the weapons hanging in the corner, I made my way towards them letting my hand run over the large array of them. The bows were gorgeous each engraved with symbols, a matching set of arrows hanging beside them, I ran my hand across the hilts engraved with designs, some were birds some had flowers. My hand continued it's journey stopping once it rested on the swords, I rand my hand along the hilt of a long sword, It had eagles carved along it, the blade was deathly sharp and shined lightly as I readjusted my grip on it almost dropping it at the unexpected weight it carried. I placed it back on the wall, looking over to the short swords. I've never really fought with a proper weapon but I think I always knew that I preferred short swords to any other weapon, I let my hand drift over the sharp blades, some were sheathed in a scabbard protecting the blade while others were just left naked hanging against the wall. I was snapped out of my peaceful silence when a loud bell rang out, it seemed to work it's way into my ears causing me to raise my hands to my ears covering them as I crouched down. I felt the urge to scream out in pain burn in my throat, when the bell stopped abruptly, It left my eyes watering and ears pounding. Grabbing my jacket I sprinted out of the training room, noticing the darkening sky, and inhaling sharply when I realised this meant it was curfew. Astra had told me about what she knew of dragon riders and their culture, Dragon riders are extremely secretive and only once you have been confirmed a dragon rider are you allowed to know even a slither of their secrets. I wracked my brain trying to remember our previous conversation, I slowly started to remember but could feel it slipping away as I ran forwards legs burning. I kept a tight hold on that thought, remembering she had said it was the bell for curfew anyone out after this bell rang would be punished, nobody knows why, but then again no one is brave enough to find out. I looked up almost sighing in relief as the house came into view, something immediately cut of my happiness as I heard shouting, I could barley make out the voices but as the pounding of feet got closer I could hear a few words,
"I know I heard one," a voice shouted,
"It must be her boss," another added,
"You better be right about this boys," another growled, pain shot through my body my last bit of adrenaline pouring into my system. My breathing was labored, my heartbeat fast and threatening to break out of my chest, my legs were burning crying out for me to stop, as the footsteps started to get closer and the sound of panting became more audible behind me, the steps to the house were just a few feet away from me. My hair had fallen out of the ponytail it was previously held in and was know whipping around behind me, my jacket hand almost fallen off my shoulders and I had abandoned my water bottle back at the room. The air blowing behind me was obstructed as a hand whipped out behind me making a grab for the back of me. Panic flooded my brain flowing into every cell, with a last pant I threw myself towards the stone steps of the house, tensing as I braced for impact. The little breath I had in my lungs immediately flew out as I was met with cold hard ground, I let out a groan of pain before rolling over and whipping the door open slamming it shut behind me not daring to look at what was chasing me. I slid down the large doors, head falling back against the oak wood as my body was met with the cold marble ground. My heavy panting rang out through the room as I struggled for breaths my lungs screaming and blood pounding in my ears,
"You look like you had a fun evening," A smooth voice commented, you immediately recognised the voice of your instructor, choosing to annoy it you focused on attempting to control your breathing, "and without me, It hurts a bit," he added his smooth voice now taking on a tone of amusement,
"I'm sure you are," You replied in between breaths,
"May I ask, what you were doing so late at night?" He questioned, his voice as usual emotionless, you let out a deep sigh,
"You can ask, but don't expect an answer," you stated taking on the same emotionless tone he was using, shifting slightly you brace your body to get up, gripping your side. Using your other hand you reach for the doorknob pulling yourself up, you stumble forward almost loosing your footing,
"You alright there," Dominic taunts, you shoot him a glare before stratening as much as your body allows before starting forward. You almost let out a groan as you stop infront of the tall stairs,
"Would you like some help?" He asks, still remaining leant against the door frame watching you struggle, you glare at him before replying bitterly,
"I'll take the couch, thanks," you spin slightly on your heel walking straight past him in an attempt to get to the sitting room before a hand catches your wrist tugging it,
"Your not sleeping on the couch, we have rooms for a reason," he commented dryly,
"Well considering the fact that I can barley walk I don't fancy walking up the unrealistic amount of stairs" you snap, before your spun around back against his strong chest, his lips lower to your ear,
"Don't snap at me" he growls before, slipping his arms underneath your knees and under your armpits before bringing you up to his chest, your brain tells you to push him away and do it yourself but your body protests. As the battle goes on in your head Dominic makes his way towards the stairs starting to climb them not even braking a sweat or one breath braking the rhythmic pattern. I couldn't help but stare at his sharp features, as the moonlight shone down on him he almost looked ethereal. I let my eyes flutter shut for what felt like a few seconds before I snapped them open once we came to a stop, I was met with the door to my room, I pushed lightly against his chest freezing as his gaze met mine and then flicked down to where my hand rested against his chest. I coughed slightly before pushing against his chest and shifting slightly before he finally released me from his hold and set me down on my feet. I stumbled forward slightly, only being steadied when his hand reached out grabbing my waist. I reached out sliding in my room before turning and realising he was already a few feet away from me,
"Thanks," I whispered out weakly, he seemed to halt slightly as he heard my voice before walking down the hall and entering the room at the very end slamming the door shut. I winced slightly before closing mine carefully before leaning against the door and letting my head fall back against the door as thoughts once again swarmed my brain.
