"Wait, I'm confused do you fancy Wood?" Angelica had asked after Valerie told her about her brief encounter with Wood once they got back their dormitory the night of their big win."I- No! I- I don't think- No! I don't fancy Wood!" Valerie said. In all honesty she didn't know if what she had said was true. She had no clue what happened between them.
"Well, then that's that. You caught the bloke's eye for minute and then beat him in Quidditch. It means nothing Val." Angelica said casually. Valerie took this as a reassurance that she in fact did not fancy Wood and nothing happened between them. For the next few weeks, she tried to stick to this.

"Now that you have all finished brewing your antidotes, we will all test them next class on the poisoned student of my choice." said Snape's deep voice. Valerie had a particular gift for potions class, yet she hated the way Snape would bully children for no reason.
"You will be required to hand in a twelve-inch parchment on the use of antidotes on uncommon poisons." Snape continued as the bell rang.
Valerie and Angelica left the class together and then parted their ways since they were going to different classes. Valerie was going to Arithmancy and Angelica to Muggle studies.
"See you at dinner Ang!" Valerie waved as Angelica made her way to class.
Valerie made her way up to the second floor by the marble staircase.
She had her Transfiguration textbook in her hands and was rarely looking up from it as she walked to Arithmancy. She was going over a spell on how to turn toads into pocket watches when she bumped into a figure. She looked up from her book, startled, to see that the figure she had bumped into was Wood.
Valerie hadn't seen Wood since their intense encounter involving their eyes and Valerie panicked.
"I'm so sorry!" She said as bent down to pick up her book that fell to the ground.
"It's alright." Said Wood's thick Scottish accent.
Wow. She had never heard Wood speak before.
It was all Valerie could think of as she panned her eyes up his tall body while getting up from the ground. Valerie didn't want this conversation to end so she said the first thing that came to her mind.
"Hey, don't I know you?" Valerie said in her most casual voice.
Wood's cheeks turned pink and looked like he didn't know what so say.
Valerie's hands were starting to sweat, and her heart rate was beginning to race.
"Yeah! You're on the Gryffindor Quidditch team, right?" Valerie asked.
Wood's face instantly lit up at the prospect of a conversation about Quidditch and he said, "Yeah, I'm the Keeper."
"Wow, I'm the Ravenclaw Keeper. Remember me? We played you last month. Well, I wouldn't say played, we more like destroyed you but..." Valerie said in a teasing voice trying to lift the tension between them.
Wood smiled and raised an eyebrow, "You can say destroyed, but I was just as good as you were. Blame our loss on our Seeker."
"Yeah right, you let in three goals while I only let in one." Valerie said with a smirk.
"Hey! I was-uh, distracted! Watch, the next time we play each other, we're going to be the ones destroying you guys!" Wood said, suddenly looking nervous.
'Wait a minute' Valerie thought, 'Was he distracted for the same reason that I was? Did our eye contact actually mean something? Do I actually fancy Wood?'
