Valerie was alone out on the Quidditch pitch practicing for her last match of the term, against Gryffindor.
The cool spring breeze blew her hair left and right as the Quaffle she bewitched soared at her in all different directions. Valerie had just blocked it from getting into the goalpost for the 34th time when out of nowhere, it flew past her at an incredibly fast speed.
"What the-" Valerie started as she turned around on her broomstick.
There stood Oliver Wood with the same Quaffle in his hands and a mischievous smirk plastered on his face. "Looking for this?" He said teasingly.
"What are you doing here?" Valerie asked as she flew down from the pitch. She seemed cool and casual on the outside, but on the inside, she was happy to see the Quidditch-obsessed boy.
"Just came to see you. Are you busy right now?" Oliver replied and threw the Quaffle back at her.
Valerie caught it with one hand and raised an eyebrow at the same time, "How'd you know I was here?"
"I paid Ace a little visit."
"Oh well I'm guessing he just loved that."
"Yeah... He wouldn't tell me at first cause he thought I'd steal your techniques."
Valerie laughed and Oliver grinned back at her.
"Alright, I'm not too bus-"
Oliver's fingers closed around her wrist and yanked her inside the castle, giving Valerie barely any time to drop her broomstick.
"Woah, no need to kidnap me, Wood." Valerie laughed as she tried to release herself from Oliver's strong grip.
"It's not considered kidnapping unless it's nighttime. And by the looks of it it's still sunset." Oliver joked.
The sun outside was just about fading into a deep orange and nightfall was approaching the sky.
"Where are you taking me you lunatic?" Valerie asked.
"It's a surprise..." Oliver replied, he glanced back at her and winked.
Valerie's stomach fluttered at this and when Oliver turned back around Valerie grinned to herself. The two were making their way up a great spiral staircase and by the looks of it they were heading to the Astronomy Tower.
"Can I guess?"
"No, I know you memorized Hogwarts: A History, so it would be no fun."
"Argh, alright." Valerie smiled. They made their way up the last steps and they were at the top of the Astronomy Tower.
"Wow." Valerie said as she gazed out into the sky. By the time they reached the tower, nighttime fell and the stars were slowly becoming visible to them. "It's beautiful up here."
"Your far more beautiful than a bunch of stars." Oliver blurted out, apparently without thinking and blushed crimson.
Valerie laughed and was internally blushing. "So, other than the stars, why'd you take me up here, Wood?"
Oliver peered up at Valerie and looked extremely nervous. "So, since we've been on a couple dates... and er, I was hoping you enjoyed them?" Oliver said.
"I did..." Valerie replied with a smile.
"Well... uh-I was..." Oliver sighed and smiled coyly at her. "I was wondering if er..."
"You were wondering..." Valerie said jokingly, oblivious as to where this was heading.
Oliver drew in a deep breath and blurted out, "I was wondering if... if you would be my girlfriend!?" He looked so nervous as Valerie stared back at him.
