Waves
~
A year later...
Jessica's POV:
As hours turn into days, days turn into months, months turn into years, me and Elijah have become closer than imaginable. High school has been going absolutely amazing with Elijah. I truly enjoy our times spent together. We were basically inseparable.
Sometimes people came up to me and asked me why I was being with Elijah and that I was a fool. I really wanted to roll my eyes and reply to them that they are the idiots but I kept it in.
After class today, he asked me to hang out with him at the sea that borders our city. Of course I said yes. I could never say no to him.
He left for home after school ended and I returned as well to get ready. I dash excitedly into my room and rushed to my closet. I flung all the clothes to the side and found the one special dress that I never wore before. It was a light blue silk dress that stopped at my knees. There was a sunflower sewed on the left side and the bottom of the dress was like ocean waves every time it twirls. I got it last year as a present from my parents and I never wore it because I wanted to wear it on a special occasion.
I think this is a special occasion. Quickly getting changed, I sort of made myself look more presentable. But I didn't do too much to make myself look like I dressed over. All I did was put my hair in a messy braid and applied a thin layer of lip gloss.
"I'm going to see Elijah!" I directed towards my parents and ran out the door. They were already used to me being like this and I didn't bother to hear them agree.
The sea was not far away, a twenty minute walk at its longest. It didn't take long before the shivering breeze winds against me. I curse at myself for forgetting a jacket.
"Really Jessica? How could you forget a jacket in this type of weather." I scold myself. The sun was up high shining but the clouds were a light dirty grey. As I walk closer to the ocean, the distinctive smell fills my nostrils and the shivering yet warm wind blows harder. The sound of the ocean water rushing towards land and back is heard as I search for the old boy.
There were plenty of people there playing in the sand and the water. But with my sense, I look towards my left direction and I find the exact person I'm looking for.
I stroll towards him, admiring the now warm wind blowing across my face. The chattering in the background makes this whole place a lot livelier. I feel a smile upon my face as I see Elijah there.
"Elijah!" He was relaxing on the warm sand lying down with his eyes closed; taking in the sunshine. The sun shines perfectly on his face, distinctively showing his imperfect features. He looked so perfect and peaceful under the sun, even if he looked old. He was perfect in my eyes. What? What was that Jessica? I shake the thought out of my head.
He opens his eyes and brings his attention towards the direction of my voice. A smile finds its way on his face as he waves towards me. I sprint walk close up to him, and take a seat next to him.
"You finally came!" Elijah beams enthusiastically; as he brings himself up into a sitting position.
"Of course, just kind've late." Elijah chuckles in his deep voice.
"Yeah, that's fines." We sat there in silence, but there was no awkwardness blanketing us. He occasionally hums a little tune as we observe the horizon and the people walking around.
"Want to take a walk now?" He asks, looking towards me.
"Yeah." We get up from the beach and dust off the sand on our clothes.
