Louvina's POV
"Dinner at the Brickle residence?" Keke shouts. "Wow. The universe is really trying to mess with you huh?"
"I know" I whine.
Thanks to the information I received last night, I barely got any sleep and I'm pretty sure I had bags under my eyes by now. I woke up with a horrible headache and even though I took some painkillers, the mere thought of the dinner brings back the headache.
I felt like a zombie walking around. Oh and Abbey was still not talking to me and that just added to my headache. For the first time in my life, I was hoping school never closed but of course, since the universe now hated me, it did.
"But you'll get through it" she encourages.
"I'm not worried about me, I'm worried about Abbey and Adam."
"Yeesh, I'd hate to be you right now but good luck tonight" she says.
"Thanks. I need all the luck I can get"

When I get out of Keke's car, I drag my feet. Not really caring how long it takes to go inside. The closer I get, the slower I walk but eventually, I get there. With reluctant fingers, I twist the handle and walk inside.
" Great. If you came even a minute later, I would've pulverised you." My mom says when I step into the kitchen.
I laugh and roll my eyes playfully.
"Well I'm here now." I say."Which is amazing. I've left a dress on your bed. Bath, freshen up and wear it. We leave in two hours." She says.
I nod and turn to leave.
"Oh and Lou?"
I turn back around.
"Don't. Be. Late"
Chills run down my spine. This woman can be scary if she wants to and awfully sweet too.
I nod again then leave.
****************
The dress is amazing. It's a black, off shoulder dress with yellow lining the edges of the neck and puff sleeves.
I put on a little makeup, curled my hair and wore my black sandals.
And since I finished in record time, I went downstairs and sat on the couch playing games I didn't know I had on my phone."Louvina! You're done already?" My mom asks in shock.
"Yeah." I reply with a huge smile.
"Thank you honey. And the dress looks really good on you" she compliments.
"Thanks mom" I blow her a kiss.
"Everyone ready?" My dad asks descending the stairs with Abbey behind him
My mom and I nod and Abbey mumbles a yes from the bottom stair.
"Then let's go"
I sigh. Let's get this over with.
*********************
"You made it!" Mrs. Brickle squeals when she opens the door.
"Of course" my mom replies.
Everyone hugs everyone then we move to their sitting room, conversations everywhere.
Abbey sat as far as she could away from me while Adam sat as close as he could.
"You look amazing" Adam whispers into my ear.
I smile and whisper back, "Thanks. You look good too"
I look at Abbey who was now scowling at both of us. I scooted a little from Adam because I didn't want Abbey to think we were rubbing it in her face but Adam only pulled me closer every time I moved even a little.
