Louvina's POV
I open the door and sit down quietly. She starts the car and we hit the road.
"How was school?" She asks.
"Good. How was work?" I ask back.
"Great" she replies and I nod.
"So about the whole Adam thi-" I'm cut off when she speaks.
"Adam explained it to me." She says in a hostile voice.
Before I get to talk, she continues.
"And I'm hurt that Adam was your go-to person instead of me." She says and turns to look at me briefly, hurt evident on her face.
I frown. What was she talking about?
When she sees my confusion, she explains further."You needed a ride from Keke's because there were no Ubers around so you called Adam? Then he offered you his jacket because you were cold?" She states in a "duh" tone.
Really? that was the best he could come up with? But I go with the lie anyway.
"Yeah. I'm sorry its just that I didn't want to bother you and I kinda still have Adam on speed dial from years ago and he said he wasn't busy so I just figured, why not?" I confirm and shrug.
"Lou, you know you would never be a bother." She says.
"Okay, from now on, me first, Adam second. If you're ever in trouble, please do call me first before Adam okay."
I nod. "You don't trust Adam?" I ask.
She chuckles. "I do. A lot. But when it comes to you, I trust him at the same time I don't trust him. Its that kind of situation, you know" she says
I laugh. "Yes, yes I do." I reply.
I watch as our house comes into sight.
"Oh yeah and do you know why mom wanted us home early today?" I ask her.
"Nope. I'm just as curious as you are" she answers and parks in the garage.
When we walk into the house, my mom greets us with cheerful hugs and kisses.
Well someone is in a good mood."My babies are home!" She squeals.
Abbey and I share a look and we both narrow our eyes at her.
"What? I'm excited." She says when she notices our stares.
"And why is that?" Abbey asks.
"The Brickles are coming over for dinner!" She squeals again, only louder.
"What?!" Abbey and I shout at the same time. We turn to each other and laugh before turning back to our mother.
"I was talking to Michelle and we realised it had been long since we met and so I offered for them to come for dinner here and she agreed"
She says with a light squeal."Now, you have about two and half hours until they arrive. Do whatever you want but make sure you're down by six. On.The.Dot" she says the last part in a threatening tone before walking away with another squeal.
Our mom was really close to Mrs. Brickle so Abbey and I understood why she was so excited.
We climb up the stairs together before parting ways to our respective rooms.
I'm excited and nervous. I don't know yet what is going on between Adam and I but meeting his parents this time made me overly nervous. I could be having dinner with my future in-laws in a couple of hours.
All my thoughts about marriage to Adam make me fall into a deep sleep dreaming about my possible future with Adam
