Louvina's POV

I now understand why Abbey told me I wasn't old enough for Adam's game nights.

After playing a series of games, from card games to board games and other random party games, there were about seven people in their early twenties sprawled on the floor in Adam's game room. Adam had found a way to make dumb rules for normal games making them definitely not normal.

Like during the game of uno, if you forget to say "uno" when you have one card left, you have to take three shots of some strong liquor or you'll have to french kiss someone of the opposite sex.

That definitely explains why his game nights were "all night". They weren't playing all night long, they just passed out from all the alcohol intake.

His rules were outrageous but everybody played along because obviously, they were used to it.

I look at Abbey's passed out body and sigh. I feel so bad. Abbey took all my shots for me because I kept forgetting to say "uno" when I had my last card and as for the other games, I just couldn't follow Adam's crazy rules and in the end, Abbey took the shots.

Luckily, Sapphire had not taken in any alcohol yet so when she got an emergency call from her mom to babysit her younger siblings, she was able to go.

Finally deciding to give up on trying to wake Abbey, I head to the kitchen for water.
I opened the refrigerator and took out a bottle. I quickly take off the cap, eager to quench my thirst.

"BOO!" I hear a voice shout from behind me.
I jump up and let out a half scream before a hand comes up to cover my mouth.

I stop struggling after a while and get ready to elbow whoever it is in the stomach before I hear a soft chuckle.
"Chill Lou"

I let out a sigh of relief... Adam. As he was the mastermind of this game night, he was excluded from the games so all he did was laugh, -obviously enjoying seeing his friends getting drunk- and drink some type of alcohol from a red solo cup.

I scramble away from him as soon as he let's go of me.
"That wasn't funny" I tell him, clutching my heart.

"Of course it was. You should have seen your face. It was all red. Still is actually." he laughs pointing to my face.

I ignore him and let him have his little moment.

"Can't sleep?" He asks when he's breathing normal again.

I nod. "Yep"

"Taking care of Abbey?" He asks again.

I nod again. "Thanks to you" I say with an eye roll

He takes a step closer to me and I take a step back.
He narrows his eyes at me.

"I see you're taking Abbey's warning seriously huh" he says referring to the distance between us.

"Yes I am"

He takes another step forward and I take one back.

"You do know that I don't bite right?" He asks.

I just shrug.

"So what do you think about Abbey's "Don't go near Adam" rule?" He asks with air quotes.

I sigh. "Honestly, I thought she was overreacting a little bit" I answer honestly.

"How so?" He asks leaning on the marble counter.

"Well, you're you so wh-"

"I'm me?" He cuts me off.

"Yes Adam. You're you. You flirt with every girl that comes your way"
I say and he slowly nods in agreement

"Anyway, so why would she be concerned about your unwanted flirting with me?"
I continue.

"Unwanted?" He repeats. "You think I don't see those cute rosy cheeks every time I pass those "unwanted" comments?"

I scoff. "Don't flatter yourself Adam.I don't know what you're taking about"

Help! I'm trying to act cool but I'm freaking out!

I turn around to leave but strong arms wrap around my waist and pull me back against a hard surface -his chest-
I let out a loud gasp.

Adam places his head in the crook of my neck and sniffs.

"Is your heart racing or am I flattering myself?" He asks.

"D-definitely flattering y-yourself" I stutter

"Mhm" he hums. "That's all I needed to know" he whispers making his hot breath fan my neck giving me goosebumps.

He loosens his grip and I immediately leave the kitchen.

What was that all about?

I wonder.

********************************

" Where was your phone?!!!" Keke screams over the phone.

"My phone battery died okay"
I say

Adam dropped Abbey and I at home in the morning as a way of apologising for the hangover. He of all people knew Abbey was a lightweight and couldn't take much alcohol.
"Asshole" was all Abbey said and dragged me with her into our house but not before Adam winked at me.
So help me god if he winks at me one more time.

As soon as I charged my dead phone, I replied to all Keke's texts which were almost a hundred. She immediately called me and started screaming at me.

"Well guess what happened while your battery was enjoying the afterlife??" She asked but doesn't let me talk and continues

"I was trapped in a restaurant on a boring arse date with Trevor! And I sent you our SOS code so many times but where were you? Smooching with Adam?!!" She screams

"Okay Keke calm down and listen to me" I say calmly.

"Don't te-"

"Listen" I interrupt her sentence.

"I slept immediately after I came back from school yesterday and forgot to charge my phone. Therefore, in the middle of the night, my battery died" I explained to her

"And I'm really, really sorry I couldn't answer your SOS texts" I add.

Keke and I had SOS codes.
"Emr" meant a simple call to interrupt whatever was going on.

"Emr!!!" Meant major disaster and in this case, whoever received the text has to go to the other's location with a fake emergency.

The more the exclamation marks the more serious it was.
It had helped me in so many awkward situations.

"Fine. But don't do that to me again" she warns.

"Never... But was it that bad?" I ask.

"Bad?? Bad is an understatement......"

And just like that, I spent the rest of my morning listening to just how horrifying the date was and she was right. Bad really was an understatement.
