Adrien•

The door clicks behind me, and I'm back home. At that moment I'm too tired from fencing to do anything, and I want nothing more than to rip up the schedule in my room. The one filled with all my activities for the next week.

Part of me wants to share that annoyance with everyone else who lives here, but the other knows that I'd probably just be shut down before I could get a word in.

"Adrien, welcome back," Nathalie says as I come in. "Sorry to bother you just as you come in, but I need to tell you something."

Let me guess, another change to my oh so important schedule. "Sure, what is it?"

"That necklace didn't belong to Chloe, did it?"

A million excuses instantly appear in front of me, but the surprise from her question doesn't let me think clearly. I'm not sure why she would be asking something like this in the first place. "What are you talking about?" I ask cautiously.

"You know what I'm talking about. I'm quite disappointed that you lied to me Adrien," Nathalie says bluntly.

So she knows. How did she find out though?

Nathalie narrows her eyes at me, and I'm afraid she'll say something harsh, such as threatening to tell my father I had the guts to lie for some reason. Instead, she sighs and turns towards the staircase. "I won't question you for now, but come with me. I want to show you something," she says.

Even though I'm a bit hesitant, she takes me to the room by the left of the mansion's entrance, where my father usually is during the day. As we enter, memories come flooding in of all the times he's told me to leave and let him work. I force them to the back and do my best to forget about them for now.

"Nathalie, what are we doing here?" I ask.

She points to the large painting on the wall. The one of my mother, Emilie Agreste. Nathalie gently places her hands on the portrait, and it seems like she's looking for a certain place.

When it looks like she's found it, presses her fingers down on two separate spots.

"Step back. Right here should do the trick," she says.

I stand next to her, and suddenly the floor under us starts to move down.

"Nathalie, what's going on?"

"Close your eyes. Don't open them until I say so."

This just makes me more confused, but I'm still wondering what she wanted to show me. Reluctantly, I close my eyes like she asked. Seconds act like minutes before it feels like the floor comes to a stop.

"You can open your eyes now," Nathalie says. "But hurry up. I need to get this over with before your father returns."

I open my eyes. I didn't know what she wanted me to see, but I didn't expect this. A large room with an arched ceiling, and dim lights along the walls on the side. Following Nathalie, she takes me across the catwalk-like bridge, and at the end of it is a platform covered in grass and bushes of white roses.

But the most horrifying detail of this whole place is not the glass coffin in the middle of the platform, but the body that's inside it.

"Mom..."

No...this can't be happening. If my mom has been here, if she hasn't been missing, then why hasn't anyone told me? Nathalie, and my father...why would they lie about something like this? Why would they keep telling me she's gone, knowing that wasn't true?!
