─ 𝚌𝚑𝚊𝚙𝚝𝚎𝚛 𝚜𝚎𝚟𝚎𝚗 ─Her words caused Corbyn to snort, nearly spitting out the water he was supposed to swallow. Zara's hands shot up to cover her mouth as a laugh escaped her mouth, "Oh my God!" She chuckled, "Are you okay?"
Corbyn nodded his head after he downed the water and sighed deeply, a chuckle falling from her lips, "Yeah," He smiled, "Just didn't know you'd actually remember the lyrics."
Zara crossed her ankles after stretching her legs in front of her, her dizziness seeming to get slightly better as their talk sobered them up. She sighed softly, letting her head rest against Corbyn's shoulder. The action surprised them both, it being the most intimate thing they had done after four months of not seeing each other or even having a conversation. After four months of being broken up.
"It's because we used to do it all the time," She spoke up, closing her eyes as she felt herself comfortable with how close they were actually being. It scared her, but with the alcohol still rushing through her veins, the courage outweighed those thoughts. "We'd argue, you hated to see me cry so you'd comfort me, and we'd always end up having make-up sex. That's just how we roll."
Her slightly intoxicated slur made him chuckle, nodding because she was absolutely right.
"And we always made it work, even if there was too much pain to go through. Knowing each other like nobody else does."
"Okay, so now you're just quoting my entire song," Corbyn laughed, sighing softly as she laughed with him. He let his head rest onto hers, wiping his clammy hands onto his black jeans. "I guess you listened to it more than once huh?"
The blonde laughed and nodded her head, "Guilty," She sighed, watching how Corbyn's hands impatiently rubbed down the fabric of his pants and she knew that was a habit he had whenever he felt slightly nervous or anxious.
"So," He cleared his throat, "What's your favorite lyric then, huh? Miss Fangirl."
Zara rolled her eyes playfully, clicking her tongue as she thought about her answer. "The one verse where Daniel sings? Like how the past is pulling your body to tell me you're sorry?"
Corbyn felt himself grin at the fact she interpreted it as if it was him singing it to her, "Oh those, yeah they're great," He chuckled, "I do wanna say I'm sorry though, it's uh- I left you with no choice besides agreeing with me. I should've asked you how you felt instead of just breaking things off."
Zara felt her heart grow fonder because of his apology, the words felt genuine and the crack in his voice at the end of the sentence seemed as if he had been hurting just as much as she had.
"Yeah," She agreed, "You should've, actually," Her voice was small, "You know- I also really like the verse when you say you don't want no one else, and that even if it's been the longest time, I'm still there on your mind."
Corbyn lifted his head from hers to make eye contact, her blue eyes looking back at him and filled with mischief. She raised an eyebrow before looking down at her hands, automatically reaching forward to grab one of Corbyn's.
He turned his head to look at her, breath hitching in his throat as he noticed how small the gap was between their faces. "It's true," He mumbled, sitting up straight, causing their noses to brush against each other's.
It was an unexpected move, but it caused both of them to stop dead in their tracks because of the sensational feeling in the pits of their stomachs. Maybe it was because they hadn't seen each other in over four months, or maybe because they were drunk- but both Zara and Corbyn felt like as if nothing had ever changed.
Corbyn retrieved his hand from her grip, only to let it cup her cheeks before he let his lips brush her soft ones. It was something he'd done before, to try and see if she was willing to kiss him as much as he wanted to kiss her.
He got his answer when Zara leaned into his touch and carefully pressed her lips against his. It caused Corbyn to smile against her lips, thumbs brushing her heated cheeks before he deepened the kiss.
After his tongue ran across her bottom lip, Zara sat up without breaking the kiss, only to let herself lower down to sit on his lap with one of her legs on each side of his body.
Corbyn was stunned with what was currently happening, but that didn't took away he had hoped this would happen after the break up. It was the biggest mistake he'd ever made, and he just hoped that one day they would be able to talk and figure things out.
They hadn't been able to talk about things in detail, but after tonight, Corbyn was sure him and Zara would be able to make things okay between them. He had to work hard for it, but he was more than willing to do that for her.
His fingertips dug into her sides as she slightly pulled back, nose brushing his as they both kept their eyes closed. It had been too long since the couple had been together, and now that they were, both of them noticed that being without each other was the worst feeling ever.
Sure, they hated each other sometimes and wanted nothing more than rip each other's heads off- but whenever they were in a good place and were happy together, it felt as if they were able to handle everything that was thrown their way.
And Corbyn finally realized that he was at his best whenever she was around. Sometimes they went downhill, but they always knew their way up without giving up. It made them stronger and Corbyn didn't like the fact that he felt so weak without her.
All he wanted for them was to be okay, and tonight felt as a step into the right direction.
