'𝐈 𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐋𝐋 𝐃𝐎'
─ 𝚌𝚑𝚊𝚙𝚝𝚎𝚛 𝚜𝚒𝚡 ─Zara sighed to herself when she reached for a plastic red cup, hoping that the strong flavor of liquor would hit her soon enough to actually start enjoying tonight.
The late release party for Why Don't We's new album and single was in full swing at Jules and Jonah's place, and Zara kinda had a hard time adjusting to being around the group without actually dating Corbyn.
Hanging out with the girls was easy, because they were all outgoing and would make sure to take the tension away from the one subject she didn't want to talk about on a girls night- just because there wasn't anything to talk about anymore after those four months.
Hanging out with the girls and the boys was something else. It wasn't awkward when she hung out with a small group, but when everyone was together- Zara was the only one without a partner.
Corbyn would usually avoid get togethers where the whole group was hanging out, just because he didn't want to make his ex-girlfriend uncomfortable. He hadn't seen her after their break up because he was dodging the group when the girls were around. Until tonight.
The blonde found her best friends on the dance floor, the group of four letting out excited screams when they saw her trying to get through the crowd- cup tightly clutched in her hands as she dance-walked towards them.
"Aaaaye, there she is!" Amelia cheered, wrapping an arm around Zara's shoulders before she tapped her plastic cup against the blonde's, "She's lookin' good, she's feelin' good, let's toast to Zara being a bad bitch!"
All of the girls agreed, raising their cups into the air before bringing them together in a toast. Zara couldn't help but chuckle at her best friends, thankful for such an encouraging girl group. She felt how Harley's red colored lips came in contact with her cheek, the brunette wiping her lipstick stain off Zara's cheek as an apology right after. "Alright, who wants to get some tequila shots?!"
With a cheer followed from nearly every single girl except for Jules- who hated tequila but would take one for the team anyway- and it caused Zara to reach for the bottle Daniel had just placed onto the kitchen island, and a few new red cups so the filthy liquor didn't mix with the drinks they were currently drinking.
The girls gathered around the kitchen island, singing along to the lines of their favorite throwback song Promiscuous while Zara finished pouring the last shot. The salt shaker eventually ended at Zara after it had been passed between the girls, and she let out a big groan when she realized how stupid her idea was and how fucked up she got because of that particular type of alcohol.
She looked up after passing the cups around, salt shaker in hand. What she didn't expect was to lock eyes with a pair of blue ones, an immediate shock running through her body as he sent her a sympathetic but sad smile.
Zara felt a rush of confidence run through her veins, her eyes still locked with her ex-boyfriends as she licked the back of her hand to make sure the salt stuck to her skin before taking in a sigh to prepare for the strong flavor to hit her tastebuds. She tilted her head back and let the shot run down her throat, slamming the cup back onto the marble counter before taking the lime in her mouth to reduce the strong tequila flavor.
Corbyn watched her take the shot and winced at the sight, knowing how much she actually despised the strong shot. Observing her, it was obvious she was trying to get shitfaced drunk- and he couldn't blame her at all.
"Did she just take tequila?" Jack spoke up, his eyebrows furrowed together in confusion, "Damn, she's really trying her hardest to enjoy herself tonight."
Jack's words hit Corbyn like a truck, and he realized he was the actual reason she was trying to drown herself in alcohol to enjoy herself tonight. Corbyn sighed softly and chugged the remains of his beer before clearing his throat, noticing how Zara was reaching for another shot with Amelia.
"I'm sorry man- I didn't mean it like that," Jack apologized, patting Corbyn on the back as he sent his best friend an apologetic smile.
Corbyn sent one back, shrugging his shoulders, "It's okay, it's my fault she's trying so hard," He sighed, "She must need a lot of alcohol to drown me out."
A couple hours later, Zara's head was spinning and she was regretting the fact she took too many shots and drinks to try and forget her entire existence. She clutched herself onto the doorframe, twisting herself so she was able to rest her back against the wall.
The blonde was currently upstairs after having enough of the party downstairs. She excused herself to go and freshen up, but when she arrived at the bathroom, a sudden wave of nausea hit her hard.
She took a deep breath and closed her eyes tightly, sliding down against the wall. Sitting down helped with her dizziness, and she felt herself slightly calm down while having some time to herself.
Hearing the stairs crack underneath someone's feet made her open her eyes, the tall frame coming into view. At first, she didn't know if the person even saw her, but when he stopped dead in his tracks- she knew he did.
Silently, Corbyn made his way towards her with two cups in his hands. He sat down right next to her, stretching his legs out before letting out a sigh.
"Congrats with the single," She spoke up, taking over the cup from where Corbyn was holding it out for her to take. "Vodka? I really shouldn't be drinking that right now."
Corbyn chuckled lightly, "Thanks, have you listened to it?" He shook his head at her second statement, "It's water Zee, not vodka."
"Oh," She rolled her eyes at herself for immediately thinking he had brought her more alcohol. Zara nodded at his question, "I have actually. The girls let me hear it."
Corbyn found it hard to read her expression, so he was unaware of what she thought of the song, or him looking for her to make sure she was okay after all of the shots she took.
"I liked it," She spoke up, finally looking up to meet his curious gaze, "Jules told me you actually wrote most of the lyrics."
That was something Corbyn wasn't aware of- the fact that Jules actually told Zara. He knew the boys had talked about who wrote the lyrics and discussed this with their girlfriends, but he didn't know Zara knew.
"I did," Corbyn stated, pulling one leg up so he could rest his arm onto his knee, "I uhm-"
"When you told me there were songs written about me," She interrupted him, "Was this one of them?"
Corbyn chuckled and nodded his head, "Yeah," He admitted, "I mean, even if you didn't know it was about you, you most likely would've guessed."
Zara chuckled lightly, "Yeah, I hope it's not every day you tell a girl there's no better view when you're watching her strip down after you argue, huh?"
