Wrapping her hair up and clipping it back was something Zara found herself doing every time she started a shift at the hospital. Today was a shift of just a few hours because one of her colleagues had to take her son to the dentist and would stop by later to finish the rest of her shift.

Making sure the claw clip was securely resting in her hair, Zara rounded the corner from where she had just seen a patient to check up on him after his surgery. It gave her a good feeling whenever she was able to help people in their worst times, and today she was feeling just as grateful as always.

"Oooh," She spoke up after walking into the nurses office, noticing a bouquet of white peonies placed in a vase sitting on the middle of the table, "Has Frank finally taken my advice to bring you some flowers, Janet?"

The raven haired woman sitting at the table was stirring her coffee, looking up once one of her favorite colleagues walked up towards her. "Oh no honey," Janet chuckled, "These aren't for me. These are for you."

Zara felt her eyebrows furrow together in confusion before a blush took over to dance across her cheeks. "For me? Really? When did they get delivered?"

Janet nodded her head happily before taking a small sip of her milked coffee, "I'd say about twenty minutes ago," She smiled, "There's a card that came with the bouquet, I kept it so Margaret wouldn't read it before you did. She's a nosy and annoying woman."

Zara and Janet would occasionally joke about how Margaret would interfere in conversations she wasn't really a part in- and how sometimes they'd just keep their mouth shut to keep themselves from saying something that would make Margaret even more cranky.

Janet handed the lilac card to Zara, who quickly unfolded it and immediately recognized the handwriting as none other than her ex-boyfriend's.

I was hoping we could talk like we did on the weekend? I'd love to see you soon, Zee. Tonight at 6, our place? :)
P.s rock your shift today!!

An instant smile formed on her face and she was quick to clear her throat and compose herself. Janet was grinning at her before she patted the chair right next to her, indicating she wanted Zara to sit down and make a quick conversation before both of the nurses had to go back to work.

"They were from Corbyn weren't they?" Janet smiled, patting Zara's hand, "I know you've been through some bad stuff with him, but he's obviously trying something here. Is it working?"

The blonde chuckled when she found Janet wiggling her eyebrows, trying to get some information about where Zara and Corbyn currently were. "I was at the release party of their new album last weekend and we bumped into each other," She started, "When I felt sick, he came to bring me some water and talk me out of my drunk state-"

"Zara, if you don't tell me you kissed after him doing that- I'm sorry honey, but I'm going to speak up-"

"Okay fine!" Zara laughed as her fingers fiddled with the lilac card, "We actually did kiss, so don't worry about that," She playfully rolled her eyes, "It's just- I've never felt so miserable after he broke up with me and I'm fine with growing closer and stuff- but I'm really scared he's going to break my heart once again."

Janet nodded understandably, placing a hand on Zara's, "And that's a normal feeling. It's good to be cautious of things or people that broke you down, but what's even better is them learning from their mistakes. And I think that's exactly what's going on with Corbyn right now. He realized what he's missing, and he doesn't want to miss it."

Zara nodded and took a sip from Janet's coffee, wincing at how much milk the woman had put into it. It caused both women to laugh before they switched back to their conversation. "So you'd say I should just go along with the flow? Try to see how things work out?"

"I'd say that's the best solution if you actually want to know how much you want him back, my dear."

At 6 o'clock sharp, the silver doors of the elevator opened, revealing the hallway Zara hadn't walked through in nearly seven months. She released a shaky breath before retrieving her keys from her purse when she reached the black door at the end of the hallway.

Standing in front of the door of her shared apartment, Zara felt foreign. The feeling of nervousness was running through her veins while she slid the key into the lock, opening the door just seconds after.

When Corbyn heard the door getting unlocked, he shot up from the couch and smoothed out the white button up he was wearing. He took a deep but quick breath as he saw the door moving slowly, his ex-girlfriend coming into view.

Corbyn didn't know if she would come over and accept his invite to come over because she hadn't texted him whatsoever. He was okay with that, considering the thought that Zara was probably just as nervous as he was and totally forgot about it.

"Hey," He breathed quietly, wiping his clammy hands onto his black jeans once she came into view, a small smile creeping up her face once she noticed Corbyn had actually been waiting for her.

"Hi," Zara replied after closing the door behind her and closing the huge gap between them by walking towards him, "I'm sorry I'm late, I wasn't sure what to wear."

It then hit Corbyn that he hadn't even told her what his plans were when she did decide to come over. He took a quick look at the short dress, oversized blazer and the heels she was wearing and had to make sure his eyes darted upwards instead of staying locked on her outfit.

"You're looking gorgeous," He assured her, sending her a sweet smile before walking up to her to help her take off her blazer.

Zara smiled at his gentleman like gesture as she felt his fingertips graze against the bare skin of her shoulders, the action causing goosebumps to arise on her arms. "Thank you," She smiled, turning around to look at him, "Wait, how did you get the stain out of these?"

The blonde pointed to Corbyn's button up, indirectly touching the crisp white cotton where he used to have a red wine stain after Zara fell into him at a fancy red carpet party last year.

"Uh- well-" He chuckled awkwardly, scratching the back of his neck, "I actually bought a new one for today."

Zara chuckled, "Hang on, did Corbyn Besson want to look like a real gentleman today? What happened to ya?"

Corbyn playfully rolled his eyes before giving her a small push, causing both of them to laugh. He sighed softly, "I guess I'd do anything to win you back, Zee."
