─ 𝚌𝚑𝚊𝚙𝚝𝚎𝚛 𝚝𝚎𝚗 ─"I can not believe you actually remembered how I like my pasta, we haven't cooked it in a while," Zara spoke up as she twirled her fork around to let the pasta wrap around the utensil before she ate the last few bits of the pasta on her plate.
Corbyn looked up at her from where he was sitting across from the blonde, placing down the glass of water he just held. "You'd scold at me for forgetting the cheese every single time, so I sure was hell remembered it this time."
It caused Zara to chuckle, his words sounding as if he took notice of something she adored, even if it was just a small thing like cheese with her pasta. She shook her head with a small grin on her face, taking a sip of the wine Corbyn poured a few minutes prior.
He had been looking at her ever since she stepped foot into their apartment, not able to take his eyes off the blonde. She had been on his mind constantly ever since they shared their latest kiss, and Corbyn took their kiss as a sign- both of them didn't seem to be done with their relationship at all. It felt reliable and familiar to have her sitting across from him, laughing at his corny jokes and rolling her eyes afterwards.
It felt like she was at home. Back to where she belonged.
"I'm surprised you still kept the cotton scented candles," She spoke up after finding themselves in a comfortable silence, resting her chin into the palm of her hand as she watched Corbyn and how he sipped his wine- waiting for her to continue speaking, "All of them."
Zara had built up a healthy obsession with their apartment smelling nice and clean, and loved having candles and tea lights here and there to keep the living room smelling like her favorite scent. Corbyn, on the other hand, always lost his girlfriend whenever they'd go shopping at Target because she was on the hunt for new candles. He adored the fact she was able to enjoy small things like having nice smelling candles around the house.
"They made it seem as if you were still here," He admitted genuinely, wiping his clammy hands onto the black pants he was wearing. He knew that as soon as she started talking about the candles, Zara knew he had missed her. It was a common thing, Corbyn lighting the candles when Zara had long shifts at the hospital or when she'd be out of town for a nursing conference. And whenever she'd come home and the apartment would smell like cotton, Zara was aware that Corbyn had missed her.
Corbyn scooted his chair backwards before standing up and making his way over to her side of the table, reaching his hand out for her to grab. Zara looked at him before she grasped his hand and he helped her out of the chair, letting go of her hand to place his own onto her waist.
His actions caused Zara's heart to skip a few beats, his hands rested on top of the silky material of her dress, carefully holding her waist. "I missed you, Zee," He mumbled, brushing his thumb over the silk. "I'm so fucking sorry. For everything."
The blonde found herself melting into his touch, the familiar feeling sending chills up and down her spine as his hot breath lightly fanned her face. The way the dimmed lighting of the candles lit his face up slightly, the way his hands perfectly fit onto her waist- it was as if never really changed between the two of them.
"I missed you," She whispered, feeling how one of his hands fell from her waist, only to reach it up to cup her cheek. She watched how Corbyn's face lit up and how he smiled at her words, his thumb slowly brushing back and forth against her cheek. "What are you thinking about?"
Corbyn chuckled softly and shook his head lightly, "It's nothing," He mumbled, tracing her lips with his thumb, "It's ridiculous."
"What is?" Zara asked him, her eyes scanning his face in the hopes to find a clue as to what he was talking about.
"How I thought letting you go was a better idea than to hold on and keep on trying to make us work," He admitted quietly, shaking his head at himself for even thinking they'd be better off without each other.
"Corbyn," Zara sighed softly, not able to do anything else besides agree with him, "I think you're talking too much."
Her soft words startled him, a small frown appearing on his face as he didn't understand what she meant by that. It wasn't until she cracked a grin, he knew she was playing with him. "Oh?" He cleared his throat, "What should I do then?"
Zara exaggerated a sigh, letting her hands rest onto his chest before she looked up at him, "I think you're fully aware of what I mean by that."
It didn't take long for Corbyn to take action after she finished her sentence. He lifted her chin up slightly, hand slipping backwards to softly cup her neck and pull her closer, eyes darting down to her lips before looking back into her eyes. "I don't know, do I?"
The blonde found her cheeks heating up at his actions and words, only then realizing how much of an impact Corbyn actually had on her. Her head was spinning, knees weak and hands trembling and when she felt his nose bump against hers, Zara's heart was beating out of her chest.
"Just kiss me Besson," Zara mumbled, fingers wrapping around the silver chain that was resting on his bare skin, pulling him even closer so she was able to close the gap that was still between them.
Corbyn didn't take long to follow her movements, pulling her against his chest to deepen the kiss even more. He couldn't help but smile against her lips as his thumb continued to brush her heated cheek, feeling how Zara grinned as well.
"So you did know what I meant?" She asked him, keeping Corbyn close by keeping ahold of the thin chain around his neck.
"Oh baby," He grinned, "When it comes to you trying to shut me up with kissing, you know I'm always fully aware of what you mean."
