(Tessie's POV)

I put my jersey on over my gear and I put my skates on. I grabbed my stick and my helmet and I was out there. I skated up next to Dad. "You ready?" Dad questions Fulton who nods. "I think so." Fulton says as he stands in front of a bunch of pucks. "Okay, Fulton. Shoot your heart out." Dad says and Fulton shoots the pucks, some of them hit the goal, but others hit different places around the arena.

"One out of five." Dad says and I wave Fulton over and we go to our box. "All right, Let's forget the past. We lost a few games! That was District Five. Now we're the Ducks." Dad says. "Yeah." We all say. "And the Ducks... are undefeated." Dad says. "Yeah!" We exclaim. "Quack, quack. Quack. Quack." Dad starts and we start quaking with him big grins on our faces.  "Go... Ducks!" We all exclaim.

Before I could skate out there Dad calls me. "Bombay!" He exclaims and I turn to him. "Yeah Dad?" I question. "Good luck out there." He says and I grin and I skate off to my right winger position. "Let's go! Let's go! Yeah! Dig it outta there! Let's go! Let's go! Yeah! Let's go! Throw it! Throw it! To the crease!" I hear Dad shout and I listen closely. I then get the puck and I start skating towards the goal, most of the Cardinals started surrounding me but I skated faster and I made it towards the goal and I scored. I rose my hands in the air and I cheered.

"Woo!" I shouted and everyone on my team that was on the ice gave me a hug and I laughed. "Come on Ducks!" Dad shouts and we go back over to the box. "Line switch." He says and I hop over the wall and I grab my water bottle and take a sip of the water. I watch as the others start to play and I cheer them on. But then Karp gets hit in the helmet by a puck and he falls over. "Karp!" I shout and I hop over the wall and we all skate over to Karp.

"I don't go to school today, Mom." Karp says as we try and shake him awake. "How many fingers am I holdin' up?" Dad questions. "He wouldn't know anyway." Peter says. "Shut up, Peter." Dad says and Karp starts coming to. "Karp, are you okay?" Dad questions and I pick up Karp's helmet which had a huge dent in it. "Look at this." I say and Averman speaks up. "The Karp-ster used his head to stop the puck." Averman says and I nudge him but I have a small smile on my face. "Let's get you off the ice. Come on." Dad says and I skate next to Dad and help him get Karp into the box.

"Get him on the bench, Charlie." Dad says and Charlie helps him onto the bench and he calls all of the ducks over. "Okay, Ducks, we still got a chance here. Connie, Terry, Jesse, Guy, time for the secret weapon. Okay, Fulton. Remember, just like we about. Come on, guys. Let's do it." Dad says and I sit back down on the bench and I see Connie skating on the ice. "Let's go Cons!" I shout and she sends a thumbs up my way and I grin.

I watch as they play and Connie scores a goal...We won! "We won!" I shout and we all start cheering. We then skate out onto the ice and we all hug. We walked back to the locker room, we all had wide grins on our faces. I noticed Peter, and Jesse gone but I shrugged it off. I got dressed in a black shirt, a blue and black flannel, and blue jeans. "I'm going with Connie around town! I'll be home for dinner." I say and I see him talking with Coach Reilly. "Bombay." He says to me. "Mole-rat." I say and Dad snickers. "Stay safe kiddo." Dad says and I nod. Connie and I start walking around town and I sigh.

"Something wrong?" Connie questions. "No, something just doesn't feel right." I say. Connie raises a brow concerned. "Ah it's probably nothing. Come on!" I say and we rush around town, being kids.

(The Next Game)

I was in the locker room and I noticed Jesse and Peter not getting ready for warm-ups. "Hey, why aren't you guys in uniform? We got warm-ups in half an hour." I say but Jesse and Peter ignore me. "All right, everyone, listen up." Dad says and we turn to him. "I got some good news. We're getting a new player, Adam Banks." Dad says and all of our eyes widen.

"What? He's a Hawk." A few of the guys said and I hated to agree with them, but I did. "He's a good player." Dad says in protest. "Yuck." Karp says. "Everybody hates him." Averman says. "We don't need him." Jesse says. "I'm the coach. l say we do need him.  If we make it to the play-offs, he could be a big help." Dad says and I look up. "If?" Karp and I question. "All of a sudden you don't think we're good enough." Karp says and everyone nods in agreement.

"No, he thinks we're losers. That's what he told Reilly." Peter says and my eyes widen. "What?" I question. "We heard what you said. You said we were losers, we didn't deserve to live." Jesse says. "That's not what I meant." Dad says. " I saw that picture of you missing that goal. You were a Hawk, weren't you ? Guess you guys stick together to the end. You know what ? I don't need your stinkin' equipment. See you around." Peter says slamming his equipment to the ground and storming out of the locker room.

"Peter, come back here. I'm talkin' to you, son!" Dad shouts. "Forget it, cake-eater. If you play, play with yourself. Come on, Terry." Jesse says and he and Terry walk off as well. "Where do you guys think you're goin'?" Dad questions. "I don't believe this. All right, I'm goin' up to the bench because that's where I'm supposed to be. Anyone who wants to join me can join me. Anyone who doesn't. Well-" Dad says and he leaves. Eventually the only people left were Fulton, Charlie, and I.

We then skated onto the rink. I had my stick and I was skating around. "Ducks forfeit. Flames you win." The ref says and I look down. I then grabbed my bag and I changed my skates for my high tops. I went back into the van and I sat down in the back with a huff.

Once we got home I took off the pads and I sat on my bed with a groan. "We had to forfeit because they don't know what sarcasm is? Are you kidding me?!" I question and I grab my skates and I rush out of the house. "Going to the pond!" I exclaim before I shut the door.

Once I made it to the pond I see another person there. "Banks?" I question and he jumps up. "Sorry. What are you doing here?" I question. "Just getting some practice in. Why are you here?" He questions and I skate over to stand next to him. "Ducks had to forfeit." I say and I just start skating around the pond. "Why?" Adam questions. "Peter doesn't know sarcasm, my dad used it on your coach, and now we're here." I say.

Adam laughs and I turn to him. "My Dad says that you are joining our team, is that true?" I question. "Yeah." He says looking down. "Ah, don't worry, it won't be a problem, if these continue we're going to forfeit our way out of the playoffs." I say and he chuckles. Adam and I bonded for a bit , he was actually really nice when he wasn't stuck up. "Well it's getting dark, bye Banksy." I say. "Bye Tess." Adam says and we go our separate ways.
