(Tessie's POV)
I had my blue bandana tied around my head and I was wandering around our house. "You ready Tess?" Dad questions. "Almost." I say and I grab my Ducks bag and I walked downstairs. Dad called Mike and he got a tryout which was exciting, except...We had to move. I walked outside with my bags and we went to the Bus stop.
We waited for the bus and eventually everyone was there. I hugged everyone, but Connie the tightest, I mean she was practically my sister. "Look, don't take any bad dives, okay?" Peter says to Dad. "Just remember, keep your head up, man." Jesse says. "Cake-eater." Adam says. "Remember, strength, not concentration." Fulton says. "Right." Dad says. "And for God's sakes, soft hands." Averman says and I smirk. "Right. Anything else?" Dad questions. "Yeah. Have fun out there, coach, you too Tess." Charlie says and I hug him along with Dad.
"I must be crazy. A tryout with the minors. I'm gonna be goin' up against kids half my age." Dad says. "Just have a good tryout, Gordon. One step at a time." Ms. Conway says. "Yeah, you're right." Dad says and they kiss. Charlie and I's jaws drop as the others whoop and holler. Once they break apart I turn to the team with teary eyes. "I'm gonna miss you guys." I say and we do a group hug. "Fulton, wait for me to bash okay?" I question and he nods. "Always will bash sister." He says and I grin.
"Good luck Tess-meister." Averman says and I wipe my eyes. "Bye guys!" I say and I hop onto the bus behind my Dad and we were off.
(A few years later)
I was officially 14 years old! I was at my Dad's hockey game. I was cheering as loud as I could and I had a wide grin on my face. "Go Dad!" I shout as I see him flying across the ice to get to the goal. But right before he could shoot, his knee was hit and he collapsed. "Dad!" I shout and I jump over the wall and I run over to him, I didn't care about the refs calling me back, I just needed to know he was okay. "Dad?" I question and I kneel down next to him. "He needs a hospital." A ref says and he was taken to the hospital.
I rode with him to the hospital, turns out he severely damaged his PCL, which meant he couldn't play anymore. I waited by him, until he was finally off of his pain meds. "Tess?" Dad questions and I look up from the book I was reading. "Dad, hey. You okay?" I question. "Yeah. What happened?" Dad questioned. "Your knee was hit with a stick, your PCL is severely damaged." I say and I look down. "Hey, what's wrong?" Dad questions. "They-They said you can't play hockey anymore." I say and Dad's eyes widen and he looks down. "Oh." Dad simply says.
(Time Skip)
We were finally back in the small flat we called home. "I was thinking." Dad says. "Uh-oh." I say and Dad sends a playful glare my way. "No, you would actually like this idea." Dad says and I perk up. "I would?" I question and he nods. "How would you like to move back to Minneapolis?" Dad questions and I grin. "With the Ducks?" I question and he nods. "Yeah!" I say and I go and hug Dad with a wide grin on my face.
