(Tessie's POV)
I woke up to someone shaking me awake. "Tess." Dad says and I look over groggily. "I'm going to have a chat with Ducksworth, I'll be back." Dad says and I nod. Once he leaves I fall back asleep until there is a knock at the door. I go over and open it and lean against the door. "Yeah?" I question and I see an old looking man there.
"Gordon Bombay?" The man questions. "No, his daughter, who are you?" I question. "Coach Reilly, I coach the Hawks." He says and right when he says Hawks I slam the door in his face. "I don't associate with the Hawks." I shout and I hear him grumble something under his breath and I take a peek through the curtains...He left.
I sigh in relief. I go and dress in a denim jacket, a black t-shirt, and blue jeans. I put my black high-tops and when I go to open the door Dad rushes in. "Come on!" He shouts and he leaves the house. I follow him and we rush around and gather everyone. We then go to Han's shop and I look around. "Whoa." I say and we all start rushing around. I grab a helmet besides the old wrestling gear I've been using. I then grab knee and shoulder pads, I then grab a hockey stick. It was black and white...I loved it. I held all of my gear in my hands, and trust me for my height, the only thing sticking out were my feet.
(Time Skip)
We all had our gear, they were either on our bodies or in our hands. "Dude, check 'em out, man." Jesse says. "Holy cow." Goldberg says from next to me. "They're pretty good skaters. Anybody know who they are?" Dad questions. "That's Duncan. He's in my science class." Peter says. "That's his sister, Tammy." I say motioning to the blonde girl.
"Think they'd want to play with us?" Dad questions. "Yeah!" We all cheer. "Go get dressed. I'll do the negotiating." Dad says and we go to the locker room. I start to put my gear on and I walk outside and onto the ice. Soon everyone came out onto the ice and we started practice.
"Back to basics! Skating!" Dad shouts as we start to do drills. "Go! Go! Side to side. Shift your weight. Get comfortable on your edges. That's good, that's good. Keep your balance, Karp. Trust your edges." Dad says and I looked over and I see Charlie fall on his face. "That's okay, Charlie." Dad says and Charlie gets back up.
(Next Practice)
We were out of our gear, all except our sticks and skates. "Soft hands. You don't shoot the puck to your teammate. You sail it to him. Karp, on your feet." Dad says and Karp stands up. I see Dad with an egg instead of a puck. "You send it." Dad says as he sails it to Karp, but when Karp tries to stop the egg, it breaks and splatters all over him.
"Oh! Gross!" Karp exclaimed wiping the egg from his face. "You don't stop the pass. You accept it. Cradle it." Dad says and when Karp passes it to Dad, it breaks in his face. "Oh!" We all exclaim but I burst into laughter. "Again." Dad says and I pair up with Charlie and we start to practice sailing and accepting.
After a bit Dad called us back. "Concentration, not strength." Dad says as he had an egg. "Like the Karate Kid? ''Wax on! Wax off!''" Averman says. "Just shut up and try it, Averman!" I say and he sends a small glare at me. "You're such a jerk." Averman says and I glare at him. Dad sails the egg towards Averman who accepts it. "Send it back, Averman." Dad says and he sails it back.
"Good, Averman. Tess." Dad says and he sails it to me and I cradle it, then I sail it back to him. "Good! Charlie." Dad says and he sails it to Charlie, who cradles it. "That's good. Good. Now sail it back." Dad says and Charlie sails it back, but a little too fast which makes the egg crack at Dad's hockey stick, making the egg splatter all over Dad.
"Oh! Way to go!" I exclaim and we all start laughing. We then continue practicing with our partners. "Good, good. Good, cradle it. Cradle it. Soft hands, soft hands." Dad says and I hear splattering and I hear laughter. "Oh!" Connie exclaims and I laugh. "Here it comes. Nice and easy. Good." Dad says. "I did it! I did it!" Karp exclaims and I grin. "All right." Dad exclaims. "Nice drill, coach. Really very cute. But when are you gonna work with me in goal?" Goldberg questions and we stop our drills.
"Goldberg, do you trust me?" Dad questions as he ties Goldberg to the post. We put pucks in front of us and we put our helmets on. "My mother would not approve of this, coach. She'd like me to live to be bar mitzvah'd." Goldberg says and I snicker. "This is your bar mitzvah, Goldberg. Today you will become a man." Dad says and he skates back towards us. "Coach, I you got the ceremonies mixed up. It's more like a circumcision. Coach! Will you come back here? What'd I ever do to you, man?" Goldberg questions.
"District Five! Ready!" Dad shouts and we get into positions Oh, man, I'm gonna die. I'm gonna die." Goldberg says. "Aim!" Dad shouts again and I aim for Goldberg's shin pads. "Nice knowin' ya, Goldie." I say. "Oh, please! No!" Goldberg shouts. "Fire!" Dad shouts and we start firing the pucks at him. Goldberg start shouting in protest. "I wanna go home!" Goldberg shouts but we continue firing at him. Eventually he starts laughing. "This doesn't hurt! You wimps! Give me your best shot! Oh! Come on! That's good! Hex goal! boot save! Whoa! Nice shot, man! I'm a dog! I'm a dog ! Come on!" Goldberg shouts.
We then look up at him, all of our pucks were on his side. "Goldberg! Goldberg!" I start and we all start chanting his name. "I am Goldberg! The Goalie!" Goldberg shouts and he starts growling. We all cheer for him, proud that he's gotten over his fear.
We started doing drills again. "Good! Good! All right! Good hustle! Conway, way to go. All right Tess." Dad says as we continue doing drills. "All right, Karp!" Dad exclaimed and we all grinned at each other.
(Practice Over)
"You guys hungry? Tired?" Dad questions. "Yeah!" We all exclaim. "Do you ache? Are you pumped up?" Dad questions. "Yeah!" We shout again as we skate forwards while Dad skates backwards towards the stands. "Good! That was a hell of a practice. Be proud of yourself." Dad says and we started talking again while walking out. After a few moments we realized. "Goldberg!" We all exclaimed and we rushed back inside and untied him.
