(Tessie's POV)
I was sat in my seat which was next to Karp. "That's right. The red is oxygen. Now what are the blue balls?" Mr. Marshal our science teacher says. We all start laughing. "Tommy?" Mr. Marshal questions and the boy sitting in front of Karp smiles. "Hydrogen?" Tommy questions. "Is correct
"Now put them together...and you have a molecule that makes up 96% of your body. What is it?" Mr. Marshal questions. "Pizza?" Tommy questions and we laugh again. There is a knock at the door and Mr. Marshal turns to it. "It's the principal. I'll be back. Work on H2 CO3. It's a goody." Mr. Marshal says and he walks out.
"How'd the forfeit go, Spaz-way? You too Tessie." Karp says and I glare at him. "Yeah, did you score?" Peter questions and I glare back at them. "Leave me alone, guys. I don't want to talk the team." Charlie says. "Oh, yeah, sure. Coach's pets. Everybody knows he likes you best." Peter says. "Likes his mom, you mean." Karp says and Charlie stands up, shoving his table out of the way.
"Take it back, Karp! Take it back now!" Charlie exclaims grasping Karp's shoulders. "Leave him alone." Connie says and we try shoving Karp back. "You have no right shoving Karp." Peter says and he shoves Connie and I. "Don't push me." I say. "Don't push them, they're girls!" Guy says as he storms over to us. "Atoms away!" Tommy shouts and we all start shoving each other, Peter and I were in each other's faces screaming our heads off. Jessie was grabbing at Averman's glasses and it was all pure chaos.
"My atoms!" Mr. Marshal exclaims as the atoms are thrown around the room. "You! Sit! Sit now! In your seats now!" The principal shouts and we all go and sit in our seat and I try not to smile. "I have never in my life. What have you got to say for yourselves?" The principal says. "Quack." I say. "Quack! Quack! Quack! Quack!" The Ducks all chant. But doing that led to detention...Great.
(Detention)
"Lines all of you! You will not quack at the principal!" The principal shouts and she locks all of the Ducks in the room and we all start writing the lines. "I will not quack at the principal. I will not quack at the principal." We all say over and over again up until the door opens.
"What do you want?" Karp questions and we all turn and I see my Dad. "I want to talk to you guys." Dad says. "People." Tammy says. "People, right. Sit down, please. All of you." Dad says but none of us sit down. "Okay, don't sit down. Look, what's done is done. I want to be your coach again." Dad says and I smile. "You're gonna coach a bunch of losers?" Averman questions. "No, I want to coach the Ducks." Dad says. "What about the things you said? You said we didn't deserve to live." Karp says.
"Karp, I was being sarcastic. Do you know what that means? Dad questions. "No." Karp says "Okay, then you do." Dad says. "I didn't mean those things the way they sounded. You guys know what it's like to be misunderstood, right?" Dad questions. "Yeah, of course. We're kids." I say and everyone nods their head in agreement. "So...Can you forgive me? Can I be your coach again?" Dad questions.
"What about Banks?" Guy questions. "He can be on the team if he wants. He should have been with us all year. It's you guys who were cheated. Let's forget all that crap! We're a team, right?" Dad questions. "Yeah." We all say. "I made you guys, and I'm sticking with you." Dad says in front of Charlie and I and we both grin. "So, what's it gonna be? We can play and still have a shot at the play-offs... or we can forfeit again and the season's over. Peter, what do you say?" Dad questions and Peter looks up.
"Well...I think it would help if we practiced first." Peter says and we all cheer. "All right. Let me see if I can get you out of detention." Dad says and we all sigh. "Take that." I say and I do a handshake with Goldberg and Charlie. "You really quacked at the principal?" Dad questions. "Yeah." We all say. "Are we Ducks or what?" Dad questions. "Yeah!" We cheer again. We got out of detention and I hugged Dad. "Thanks Dad." I say. "No problem, now lets go practice." Dad says and I grin.
(Game Day)
I was in the locker room and I was tying up my hair behind Connie as she was helping Goldberg with his pads. She then got up and grabbed her skates and then her stick. I walked out behind her just as the door to the locker room opened...and in walked Adam Banks.
"Hey. Wasn't sure if you'd show up." Dad says as he jogs in. "Yeah, whatever. I just want to play hockey." Adam says. "Good. Ducks, you all know Adam Banks." Dad says and we all look at him. "On behalf of the Ducks, I'd like to say welcome." Charlie says but Jesse stops him from stepping forward. "Cake-eater." Jesse says to Adam.
"Ooh, the Jess-man, dissin' the new guy! The Jess-ster!" Averman says. "Stut up Averman!" Jesse exclaims. "It's just a joke." Averman mutters. "Puttin' on a Duck's jersey doesn't mean you're a real Duck." Jesse says and he walks out. But before I leave I pat Adam's shoulder. "Good to have you Banksy." I say. "Thanks Tess." He says and I walk out of the locker room and into the box.
During the game I noticed none of the Ducks were passing the puck to Adam and I rolled my eyes. "Pass it to Banks!" Dad and I shouted. They finally passed it to Banks who scored. I saw Jesse roll his eyes and skate over to us as the others hugged. "Goldberg, you're gonna sit this one out." Dad says and I start to grab my gear since I was in. "What? You're pulling the goalie out when we're tied?" Karp questions and everyone starts shouting at Dad. "Listen, listen, listen! A tie isn't gonna help us. We need the win. Okay, Fulton, you're our man. Everybody, get the puck to Fulton. That's your job." Dad says and I nod. "We pulling the Statue of Liberty play?" I question.
"Yeah?" Connie says and I smile. "No, take your shot. You may only get one, so it's gotta be good." Dad says and I nod. "But, coach, one outta one?" Fulton questions. "Soft hands, Fulton. Concentration, not strength." Guy says and he winks at Connie. "Ew, get a room." I say and Connie and Guy nudge me. "That's it! Okay? Let's get on the ice! Let's go! Come on!" Dad shouts and I hop over the wall and I skate to my position after adjusting my helmet.
"Let's back it up, boys. Let's make it a fair one. Let's go! Get in there!" The ref shouts and the game starts. Jesse passes it to Fulton and a player gets ahold of the puck, but I knock him over. "Take your shot!' I exclaim to Fulton. I hear other yelling, telling him to shoot, and he does. We won another game! I skated over to Fulton along with the others and we did a group hug and cheered at the same time.
