Chapter 2 ~ Attempted Murder

I couldn't believe it. Was she going to- I acted out of instinct and screamed, running towards them. 'PEKO!'

Mahiru turned her head to see Peko holding a bat and froze. Everything was silent. That was until I heard a quiet laugh from beside me. I felt a shiver down my spine as I looked towards Nagito.

'We just stopped someone from getting murdered! Such hope!'

He started manically laughing. I was right... This was a bad idea... we never should have left... Suddenly, I got pushed to the side.

'What the fuck Peko? Why did you- Didn't I tell you not to-'

To my confusion, Fuyuhiko had ran into the beach house and started shouting at Peko. Mahiru was in shock, and Nagito was still laughing. And if it wasn't confusing enough, Hiyoko poked her head out of the storage cupboard. Upon seeing the scene, she slid back in the cupboard and shut the door.

I grabbed the (still laughing) Nagito by the shoulders and dragged him back to the first island. Somewhere along the way he quietened down and was smiling to himself. He was probably thinking about hope or something.

I dragged him to my cottage and sat him on my bed. 'Stay there.' I said sternly, and locked him in. I then headed over to tell everyone about the attempted murder.

I walk back from the restaurant at eleven, half asleep. Fuyuhiko had called all of us up there and explained that Peko tried to kill Mahiru on behalf of him because she was his "tool" or something. He also said that he will be keeping an eye on her to stop her planning to kill anyone else. By the time we had finished talking, it was already night time, but Akane insisted we stay to eat some food.

I open my door and see Nagito asleep in my bed. Wow, I really didn't think this through...

After an unsuccessful search for another place for me to sleep, I admit defeat and awkwardly get into bed next to him.

Why does this feel so weird... What's Nagito doing to me?

Lost in my thoughts and worries, I drift off to sleep.
