Chapter 25 - Imposter

TW: CHOKING AND GORE

I run towards where the voice came from and found myself at the apartment where the Ultimate Imposter had been put. As I burst through the door, I hear a scream.

'AAAAAAA-gh-'

I run towards the bedroom to find the Ultimate Imposter, still impersonating Byakuya, standing with his hand around Hiro's neck.

'H-Hey-' Hiro stutters, struggling for breath. Without thinking, I run towards the imposter and do a roundhouse kick, knocking him to the ground. Hiro goes flying across the room as I grab an extension cord and tie the Ultimate Imposter up.

I sigh. 'I'm really not the right person for this... You won't remember me, so there won't be some cliche "remembering your past then be brought back to sanity" thing.'

He struggles against the makeshift ropes. 'Let me go! I, Byakuya Togami, refuse to be treated like this!'

'I would fall for that, except for the fact that you aren't Byakuya,' I say, locking the door, 'Anyway, Junko's dead, you got brainwashed, so please come to your senses so I don't have to deal with you.'

Upon hearing the words Junko's dead, the despair-filled swirls in the Ultimate Imposter's eyes seem to face.

'I-Izuru...?'

'Call me Hajime.'

I reach down and untie him, getting into a position to grab him in case he tries to escape. Thankfully, he cooperates.

'I... remember...' the Ultimate Imposter says, 'Where's everyone else? And... how do you know I'm not Byakuya?'

'Makoto told me your talent,' I say, 'Speaking of him, Hiro, can you get him for me?'

Hiro, who had been sitting in the corner of the room in shock, stumbles up and unlocks the door, before leaving the apartment. A minute later, he returns with Makoto and the real Byakuya.

'Well, this is awkward...' mumbles Makoto, staring at first Byakuya, then the imposter, then Byakuya, then the imposter, then Byakuya, then-

'Yeah yeah, Hiro, leave.' Byakuya says, 'And Hajime... It'll probably be boring hearing about everything again, so if you want, you can go too.'

I nod, before following Hiro out of the room.

I spot Hina at the end of the corridor. She calls out to me. 'Hajime! Help!'

I notice an army of Monokuma's heading towards her. Pulling the hacking gun out of my belt, I run towards her and start shooting.

Monokumas explode, but whenever one dies, two more come. I watch in horror as Hina gets dragged away, the hacking gun being ripped to shreds. That isn't the only thing being destroyed...

Blood splashes into my eyes as I watch the Monokumas attack, unable to do anything.

Then as soon as they'd arrived, they were gone. Leaving a pool of blood behind them.
