A soft knock at his bedroom door tore Dream from his book. It was odd, living with someone again. The house felt less large and empty, more full and bright.
"Come in," he said as he fixed the position of his reading glasses on his nose. George entered the room with a small smile on his lips, closing the door behind him quietly. "What's up?"
George pulled at the ends of his long sleeved shirt and looked nervously at the floor. "I'm having trouble sleeping."
"Oh, do you need me to fix the A.C.? Or do you want to lay down in here?" Dream closed the book he was reading and placed it on his nightstand as George walked toward the left side of the bed.
Patches welcomed him to the bed by curling up into the his side. Dream smiled at George pushing up from the bed. "Anything else? I've got to brush my teeth."
"Could you get me water?" George mumbled, Dream nodded.
When he came back, George was curled up with Patches, breathing steadily. He smiled as he watched the man sleep.
When he realized it was a little odd, he set the cup of water down on George's nightstand and turned off the lights.
"I love you," were the last words spoken that night.
