MAGIC BULLET

CAMERON SAT in the seat to the left of Stiles in the back of their history class. Scott sat in the desk in front of the boy with the buzz cut. The trio practically had every class together except their study hall and one elective, but that was only because Cameron was avoiding going to her counselor.

Apparently, she still needed half a credit of P.E. since she failed freshman year's first semester of the class. But she preferred her art class over physical exercise any day, so she'd do anything to avoid her counselor changing her class.

Speaking of art, Cameron was doodling randomly in the back of her notebook as she waited for the teacher to hand back her test. She was also casually listening to the questions Stiles was asking Scott.

"If Derek isn't the alpha, if he's not the one who bit you, who did?" Stiles asked.

Cameron rolled her eyes when Scott had told them this along with everything else that had happened with Derek the night Garrison Meyers had died. She had already told both of them that Derek was only a beta, but neither of them had listened. Though, she didn't know only alphas could turn people.

"I don't know," Scott answered Stiles' question.

"Did the alpha kill the bus driver?" Stiles asked, leaning forward once again.

"I don't know," Scott said again.

"Does Allison's dad know about the alpha?" Stiles asked.

"I don't know!" Scott snapped, making several heads turn in his direction.

Stiles didn't ask anymore questions after that. The teacher handed back both boys their tests, Stiles getting an A while Scott got a D-.

Cameron leaned forward to look at Scott's grade after praising Stiles for his. She winced at the red writing at the top of the page. "Dude, you need to study more," she commented. Scott slammed his test down on the desk. "Relax. I was kidding."

The teacher set down Cameron's test on her desk. She had gotten and A+, apparently having gotten the bonus question right. She showed Stiles and stuck out her tongue in a playful taunt.

"Scott, it's one test," Stiles said, ignoring his friend's behavior. "You're gonna make it up."

"Do you want help studying?" Cameron asked. "You could always join Stiles and I."

"I don't need to intrude on my best friends' study dates, but thanks for the offer," Scott said, speaking again before either of his friends could protest. "Besides, I'm studying with Allison after school today."

Stiles' head perked up. "That's my boy."

"We're just studying," Scott said quietly over his shoulder.

"Uh, no, you're not," Stiles denied.

"No, I'm not?" Scott asked.

"Why do you encourage this?" Cameron said, her voice muffled by her hand that held her face. She could already see where this was going.

"Not if I'm forced to live vicariously through you," Stiles said. "If you go to her house today and squander that colossal opportunity, I swear to God I'll have you de-balled."

"Live through me?" Scott asked, giving Stiles a weird look. He looked back at Cameron, who was staring at her paper with a red face. "I won't 'squander that colossal opportunity' if you stop with the questions."

Stiles nodded. "Done. No more questions. No more talk about the alpha or Derek. Especially Derek... who still scares me."
