ix. wolf's bane

WOLF'S BANE

"YOU DIDN'T have to drive me to school," Cameron said.

"Well, after I caught you sneaking out yesterday, I decided I do," Luke said.

Cameron rolled her eyes. "I was just going to see Stiles-"

"And thank God I stopped you from leaving that window. You are too young to be having sex."

"First of all, you didn't let me finish. I was going to see Stiles and Scott. And second of all, I'm not having sex," Cameron said. "Besides, you're not going to be the one to lecture me on sex when I heard all the rumors about your nightly escapades."

Luke ignored her last statement. "I thought you were mad at Scott."

"He apologized, I forgave him. Besides, he's my best friend, I couldn't stay mad forever." Cameron looked out of the parked car and saw Stiles waiting on the sidewalk. "Anyways, I've got to go. Don't worry about picking me up."

"Wait-"

Cameron cut off her brother's sentence by exiting the car and closing the door. She trudged over to Stiles with a smile on her face. He smiled back, giving her a quick kiss when she was close enough.

"Sorry I couldn't make it last night, but how did it go?" she asked. "Do you know who the alpha is now?"

Stiles sighed. "No, but we do have a lead of sorts."

"What kind of lead?"

"A symbol," Scott said, coming up from behind Cameron. "The symbol on Allison's necklace."

Cameron's brows furrowed as they started walking towards the school. "So... what? We have to steal the necklace?"

"Well, yeah."

"And how do you plan on doing that?"

Scott gave her a nervous smile. "Well, that's where you come in."

"You want me to steal her necklace?" Cameron asked.

"Not steal it," Stiles said. "Just ask to borrow it. Isn't that what girls do?"

Cameron gave him a look. "But why me?"

"She trusts you the most," Scott said. 

Cameron sighed. "Fine. I'll do it."

Scott smiled brightly. "Thank you so much, Cam. I owe you."

"No kidding," Cameron said, walking ahead of them now to get to their next class.

"How the hell did he find out?" Stiles asked frantically after Scott had told them how Jackson came up to him at his locker, confronting him about being a werewolf and how he wanted to be one as well. Scott was more worried about the fact Jackson had threatened to tell Allison.

"I have no idea," Scott said. 

"Did he say it out loud- the word?" Stiles asked.

"What word?"

"Werewolf," Stiles said. "Did he say, 'I know you're a werewolf'?"

"No, but he implied it pretty freaking clearly," Scott said.

"Okay, let's just calm down," Cameron said. "I mean, he has no proof, right? And if he wanted to tell someone, he would have already done it. Besides, who's going to believe him?"

"How about Allison's father?" Scott said.

Cameron's eyes widened. "Right. I forgot about that."

"I need a cure. Right now," Scott said.
