SECOND CHANCE AT FIRST LINE
CAMERON WAS currently sat in the bleachers at the lacrosse team's practice. Stiles being her ride left her no choice but to stay and watch. Of course she had complained to the boy, but he promised that he'd buy her lunch the next day if she came. That was enough to shut her up. No one could get in the way of Cameron and free food.
Cameron watched as they lined up for drills. Scott was at the front of the line, Danny in goal and Jackson playing defense. Scott scooped the ball up and ran towards the goal, but Jackson body checked him, making him fall backwards on the ground.
Jackson clearly taunted Scott as he got back up, but Cameron was too far away to hear anything. Then Coach made his way over and talked to a hunched over Scott, probably taunting him as well.
As Scott ran back to the front of the line, Coach yelled, "McCall's gonna do it again! McCall's gonna do it again!"
Jackson and Scott both got into their places. Scott took off running, much faster than the first time. This time he had body checked Jackson, much harder than was done to him. Jackson lay on the field, clearly groaning in pain as he gripped his shoulder. Scott kneeled a few feet away, Stiles making his way over to him.
A few seconds later Stiles was helping Scott off the field and to the locker room. Cameron hurried off the bleachers after them.
Stiles let go of his hold on Scott, letting him slip to the locker room's floor. Cameron walked in shortly after, kneeling in front of Scott beside Stiles.
"What's going on?" she asked urgently.
"I think he's shifting," Stiles responded.
"Get away from me!" Scott yelled, warning them.
Stiles gripped Cameron's upper arm, scrambling backwards together away from Scott and his now glowing yellow eyes. He brought them to the last row of lockers before standing up. It didn't hide them much because Scott simply jumped on top of the row of lockers next to them.
Scott climbed higher to the cement support beams just below the ceiling. Stiles, still gripping Cameron's arm, weaved through the rows of lockers. He tried his hardest to stay out of Scott's sight, but with his advanced hearing it was rather hard to do.
They had rounded back to the entrance of the locker room. Cameron's shoulder knocked into something on the wall. She turned to see the fire extinguisher. Thinking fast she grabbed it off the wall right as Scott jumped down in front of them. She aimed it at him and let the substance inside spray out as her and Stiles slowly backed out the door.
"Stiles... Cam..."
The two teenagers outside the room peeked their heads back in to see their back-to-normal Scott sitting on a bench panting.
"What happened?" Scott asked them.
Stiles removed his gloves, throwing them to the floor. "You tried to kill us."
"Now that's one way to get the adrenaline flowing." Cameron panted, wiping the forming perspiration off her forehead.
Stiles ignored her statement, moving to sit on the floor in front of Scott. "It's like I told you before. It's the anger. It's your pulse rising. It's a trigger."
"But that's lacrosse," Scott argued. "It's a pretty violent game, if you hadn't noticed."
"Well, it's gonna be more violent if you wolf out and kill someone on the field," Cameron deadpanned.
Stiles nodded in agreement. "You can't play Saturday. You're gonna have to get out of the game."
"I'm first line," Scott protested.
