PACK MENTALITY
CAMERON READJUSTED her backpack strap as she finished listening to Scott's story. Apparently he was having a good dream about Allison and him getting it on in a school bus, which Cameron commented was "nasty." Then the dream took a full one-eighty and Scott tried killing her.
"So you killed her?" Stiles asked as he opened the door for his friends.
Scott shrugged as he entered the school. "I don't know. I just woke up. And I was sweating like crazy, and I couldn't breathe. I've never had a dream where I woke up like that before."
"Really? I have," Stiles admitted. Cameron fell in step beside him. "Usually ends a little differently."
Cameron felt the tips of her ears grow hot. "That's enough of that for today."
Stiles' head quickly turned to her, almost as if he'd forgotten she was there. "I-I didn't mean it like- like that."
But that was exactly how he meant it. She knew it.
"A: I meant I've never had a dream that felt that real, and B: Never give me that much detail of you in bed ever again," Scott said, cutting through the awkward tension that was threatening to spill into the air.
Stiles turned away from Cameron, puffing out his now rosy cheeks. "Noted."
"Let me take a guess here," Cameron said.
"No, I know," Scott said, "you think it has something to do with me going out with Allison tomorrow, like I'm gonna lose control and rip her throat out."
"No, I wasn't gonna say that- Okay, fine. I was definitely going to say that," Cameron admitted when Scott gave her a disbelieving look.
"Hey, come on, it's gonna be fine, all right?" Stiles said. "Personally, I think you're handling this pretty freaking amazingly. You know, it's not like there's a Lycanthropy for Beginners class you can take."
"Yeah, not a class, but maybe a teacher," Scott said.
"Who, Derek?" Stiles slapped the back of Scott's head. "You forgetting the part where we got him tossed in jail?"
"Okay, was hitting him really necessary?" Cameron asked.
"Yes," Stiles answered, "it's called slapping some sense into him."
"I just don't understand why the dream felt so real," Scott changed the topic back to his dream. "Chasing her, dragging her to the back of the bus, it felt so real."
"How real?" Cameron questioned.
"Like it actually happened," Scott said.
The trio pushed through the doors at the end of the hall and immediately Cameron gripped Stiles' bicep.
There, right where the buses were parked, were police cars and investigators. There was bright yellow caution tape surrounding one of the buses, and inside the bus was bloody handprints smeared across the windows, seats, and floor. Some of the seats were also torn, as if they were slashed by claws. The emergency door on the back of the bus also look liked it had been ripped open.
"I think it did," Stiles said.
Scott immediately backtracked into the school in search of Allison. His two best friends followed him frantically.
"She's probably fine, Scott," Cameron said as a means to try and calm him.
"She's not answering my texts, Cam," Scott said.
"You know, it could just be a coincidence, all right?" Stiles said. "A seriously amazing coincidence."
"Just help me find her, okay?" Scott was snapping head in every direction as if it were on a swivel.
