edit: heyyy everyone, I know its been a long time sorry. but I just read some comments from like 2 years ago. her brother is black because they have different dads. forgive me if I'm wrong but I think I made d.j. older, his dad died when he was 1 1/2. his dad was an army man and was killed in combat. I might change this but for now that's the reason the siblings have different skin tones. plus I'm white and it didn't feel okay for me to as the writer to make the main character a different skin tone, now if I get enough people saying they want a Winter with a different skin tone, I can make that happen. I want my readers to feel like their character and so if that would help let me know. okay? love yall!
