Summary - Harry and Simon get mistaken as a couple whilst with Josh and Freya
Originally, it wasn't just going to be the four of them.
At first, all 7 of them had planned to go out. They were headed to some new fancy restaurant Josh had discovered, because he felt they needed to see each other outside of filming. He decided to invite Freya as well because she liked Italian and nobody really minded her tagging along.
However, Ethan got horrendously ill and managed to infect Vik and Tobi, so it was down to the four of them plus Freya. Only a few hours before, JJ was forced to cancel since he had to go to the studio. There was no way he could get out of it and so Josh accepted that the meal would consist of far fewer people than he first intended. It wasn't a big deal.
Harry had tried to make an effort since the restaurant was apparently very fancy. He wasn't exactly a smart type of guy, but now that he was well into his 20's he had sort of got the hang of being formal. He was sure that Simon would tease him for trying so hard, but it was ok.
The group arrived at 8pm, unfashionably early, but Harry and Simon knew Josh would give them a lecture if they were late. He was dressed in a very expensive outfit and greeted them with a fatherly grin. Simon was dressed slightly more casual, but Harry thought to himself that he still looked impeccable, and effortlessly so. He also managed to fit in far better than anyone else. It seemed to Harry as if Simon had some secret book of knowledge that allowed him to know exactly how to behave at such extravagant locations. Perhaps he learnt it at private school.
Harry felt his jaw drop when they stepped inside; It was even fancier than he could have imagined. There was a glittering chandelier in the middle of the surprisingly high ceiling and the floor was made of glossy marble. The waiters wore spotless suits and shoes so polished they shone. Simon couldn't help laughing at the look of shock on Harrys face and he gently nudged him so that they could be led away to their table.
The waiter took them upstairs to a floor with only a few other groups. There was the faint background noise of their conversations and a piano that was being played somewhere. They were allocated a table in the far corner, away from anyone else.
"For the Mr and Mrs." The waiter beamed, pointing at Josh and Freya and producing a bottle of white wine. He instructed them to sit on the far side of the table.
"And for the Mr and well, Mr. The husbands." He grinned, pointing at Harry and Simon eagerly and producing a bottle of red wine. Harry glanced at Simon uncertainly, who gave him a look to suggest that they should just go along with it. They both simply smiled gratefully and sat down opposite each other, trying to ignore Josh laughing at them.
After the waiter had gone, Josh was still chuckling to himself. Freya was trying her best to remain composed although she admitted to them that she always thought they would make a good couple. Simon noticed how awkward Harry looked and so he offered to pour the wine to break the slightly sexual tension. Harry relaxed a bit and looked at him thankfully.
Whilst the others were discussing something boring and serious, Harrys mind began to wander. He started to think about what it would actually be like to date Simon. Sure, he had always thought Simon was the most attractive out of all of them, but had he ever actually considered that they would be good together? No, because Simon was his friend.
But when the waiter mistook them as a couple, as bizarre as it was as first, it was kind of nice. They must have seemed like boyfriends for the waiter to think they were. Harry was very used to the constant gay jokes made about him, apparently he gave off that vibe, and he had definitely found himself wondering if there was any truth in them. Perhaps he wasn't as straight as he thought he was. But did that mean he liked-
"Simon?" Josh said. "Can you ask the waiter for more bread?"
"Aren't you supposed to be daddy?" He grumbled.
"You're better at social situations that me."
"I don't want to get up Josh."
"Please?"
"No."
"Please?"
"No."
"Please?"
"No."
"Ple-"
"I'll go ask." Freya interrupted standing up impatiently.
Harrys mind began to wander again. He found himself speculating about Simon's ability in bed, which is something he hadn't really thought about before. It felt a bit odd to be thinking of his friend fucking him, especially since he was sat across the table, obliviously sipping his glass of wine, but he couldn't say the idea of it disgusted him. Simon looked infuriatingly good tonight ; he also kept absentmindedly fidgeting with the table cloth and Harry couldn't stop staring at his long slender fingers.
When they were finished, Harry took one last look around the restaurant (he still couldn't believe how fancy it was) and then followed the waiter. He was slightly drunk and as they were walking, Simon had to grab a hold of his arm so he didn't fall down the stairs. He didn't let go, even when they were outside, instead he slid his hand down to hold Harrys gently.
They said their goodbyes to Josh and Freya, who departed almost as intoxicated as Harry. It was very cold outside, so when Simon pulled him into a warm hug, he didn't want to let go.
"Bye Harry." Simon murmured down to him, carefully brushing his windswept hair out of his eyes. Harry didn't respond, he just nestled himself closer to Simon despite his efforts to pull away.
"I have to go." He laughed softly. "But I'll see you on Monday, ok?"
Simon gave him one last affectionate squeeze before walking off in the opposite direction, turning back once to smile at him. Harry stood where he was, drunkenly swaying a little, and watched him walk away until he had disappeared into the night.
