The adventures of Sappy and Skyler featuring Peter Pan

prologue: the golden envelope

Sappy was an ordinary girl who lived on the outskirts of Edinburgh, a scottish town with a castle stood in the center of the village with a stone clock tower in the distance.

3 blocks away was the town Square where Sappy's friend Skyler ran about. He was always running around, sweeping the streets and pushing wooden shop carts to their places, these shopcarts had barrels and crates with bread, apples and carrots waiting to be sold.

While he was pushing and heaving the shopcarts he ran into Sappy. A cloth on her head and the bottom of her pastel sun dress waved in the air as she walked the stone path.

"Why hello there Miss Sappy," said Skyler "what are you doing these days?"

"I was just visiting the townsqare," Sappy answered "and enjoying the sunny weather."

Skyler smiled brightly, Sappy was just about as cheerful. "Well good day to you miss," said Skyler "we shall meet again."

The young man was off and Sappy retreated to the pathway that was scenic and beautiful. There was a beautiful sunset of orange and magenta setting on the horizon. Sappy continued to walk down the path and she came to her country cottage.

A decorative stonewall with a wooden gate in the center. Sappy opened the gate and she unlocked the front door stepping onto the wooden floor. "Time to fix some dinner," Sappy said to herself.

Skyler hopped over the wall, running through the garden, making his way to the door. He had just finished working in the town square and decided to pay Sappy a short visit. He was holding a golden envelope which had been given to him.

Earlier that day.
Skyler had just pushed another wooden cart to the market place when a messenger boy handed him a golden envelope.

"It's for you, sir," said the messenger boy.

"Thanks, whose it from?" asked Skyler.

"It's an invitation sir, from the palace in London," explained the messenger boy. "The ship master wanted to see you."

Skyler knocked on the door as Sappy finished her meal. A few seconds later, Sappy opened the door. Skyler stepped in. "Skyler what a pleasant surprise," Sappy smiled.

"Hello Sappy," said Skyler "I thought I'd drop in for a short time. Do you have a minute?"

"You are welcome to drop in anytime Skyler," smiled Sappy "what is it you want?"

"I received an invitation from the ship master today," said Skyler "the envelope is gold."

Sappy looked at the envelope in Skyler's hand. Her eyes widened with bewilderment. "Skyler, are you going to London?"

Skyler nodded. "Let's read the letter first."

Sappy got a letter opener from a desk in a different room in her cottage and handed the letter opener to Skyler.

Skyler took the letter opener using the blade and opened the letter.

There was a sheet of white paper decorated with gold. Skyler unfolded the piece of paper carefully. "Dear Skyler," it read.

"Dear Skyler,
You are cordially invited to sail with me on a voyage to a mysterious island. Join me and my crew on the Tailgate Spinner tomorrow. Catch the London train at noon.
Your's truly,
Captain Greyham."

Skyler realized that this was his chance to sail the open sea. "Sappy , would you like to sail with me?" asked Skyler "I can't believe it. I'm going out to sea. What a wonderful adventure it's going to be!"

Sappy squealed with delight "Skyler I'm so happy for you! May I see you off tomorrow?"

"Of course you may see me off tomorrow and when I come back we'll have a dance party," Skyler said his eyes sparkling "and a feast."

Sappy smirked moving toward the door "That's a wonderful idea Skyler, " she beamed "I'll meet you at the town square."

"Well Miss, I shall be off, by the way," Skyler leaned toward Sappy and whispered. "You look splendid tonight."

Skyler stepped out the door and waved at Sappy. She watched him head back into town as he whistled a merry tune.

Sappy leaned against the doorway and put a hand to her chest. "I'm happy for you Skyler." She whispered to herself.
