Rose.
__________

Richard had stared at Rose with different eyes after their time together at the beach by the cliff. There was stars in his gaze. The drive back was somber, there was something in the air that was comforting to Rose. She felt at ease. All the time she had spent with Richard, she was on the edge of her seat. This was different, quietly reaching forward, she dug her fingertips into his mane of curls and softly massaged the surface of his scalp as he drove. He leaned into her touch and glanced over at her with a soft smile. She could see her reflection on his aviator glasses. Knowing he looked at her in a new light, brought a warm feeling to her stomach. Love was budding like fresh flowers in the spring, knowing they acknowledged each other that way, left Rose with the impression that things would change for the better. But boy was she wrong. She would remain ignorant toward the fact that Richard was a horrible man who couldn't cope without drugs, and if he ignored his blood lust, all he would see was red, she'd get lost under the shades of crimson and his anger.
Rubbing the side of her neck, she pulled her free hand away and proceeded to stare off into the distance. Her thoughts began to envelop her, from time to time she would get lost thinking over and over. Maybe it was her need of constant reassurance, or the fear of not being enough, but she'd end up drowning underneath the surface of the tidal waves of her emotions.  Thinking ahead, always prepared her for hard falls. Which brought her to the question, what future would she and Richard hold?
would there be one for them?
As much as she pondered over these two specific questions, there was a mental block. Would she really want a future this way? There had to be more to their life than this.

Shrugging away these feelings off her shoulders, she looked back at Richard. His side profile brought butterflies to her chest— from how the final rays of the sun illuminated half of his face to the way his hair fell. She could go over every little of his being and not get tired of how ethereal he was. Reaching forward once more, she stroked his cheek. In reaction, Richard reached and kissed the palm of her hand. "You okay?" He asked quietly, turning the music down on the radio. "Me? Yeah, I'm okay." Rose stared as he pulled his knife out after pulling up at the side of the road. They were still in a remotely empty area, she hadn't seen a car in the last hour, it was strange watching him pull the knife out so carelessly.  Staring, she witnessed as he took her palm. "Breathe in." His voice was stern, temporary fear settled as he traced the tip of his blade closely to her skin. Her body was ready to react to the pain, although: she trusted him. Taking a deep breath, she hissed as he dipped the blade and dragged it across her palm. Her skin instantly tore open and blood began to pour out. Richard held her palm flat before quickly doing the same, sucking in a heavy breath as he did so. It always amazed Rose how easily he could do that. Hurt himself with such ease.

She had never bothered asking him about his childhood, but whenever she brought up her own memories. He was quick to say how hard it was for him as he grew up as a child. The environment itself seemed negligent and violent. If things had turned out differently for him, she could have seen him being a successful model in the 80s. He was in fact incredibly handsome, there was no denying that. Taking her palm, she winced and grimaced as he grabbed a hold of her wounded palm and his own, pressing them together. The air smelt of iron, both of their opened wounds bled against each other, pulling her close, Richard kissed Rose delicately, licking her bottom lip before connecting their lips.
"I've bound us for all eternity." He broke his bleeding hand away from hers and cupped her cheek, the surface of her skin was stained in his blood in seconds. "For all eternity?" Rose chuckled, staring up into his eyes. They looked heavy, and tired. Like a storm brewing in the horizon. Richard watched as Rose trailed her eyes over his face. Nodding, Richard reassured and brought her hand up to kiss it, softly staring down, he kissed onto her fingertips and then the open wound. His lips covered in a thin layer of her blood. Pulling her in, they kissed once more.

Michael
As all this was occurring, Michael was midway through plotting the demise of humanity. Everything was falling into place for him. Was he doing this out of spite of his rejection? Perhaps. There was a tight grip on his heart whenever he pictured or thought of Rose running along Richard like a lost dog. It sickened him to his stomach.

He had gotten a private plane ready, and everyone's bags packed. Once Rose and Richard returned from their day together, they would be met with the surprise of a trip. A trip to witch-hunt. Michael was finally going to do things right. He was going to get rid of the obstacle that first caused his failure. Once the witches were wiped out, everything would go smoothly. He didn't care of what Rose thought, and he didn't care of whatever Richard would do to keep Rose safe. If she was smart, she'd accept an allegiance to satan. Just as he was getting ready to get in his vehicle, Rose and Richard appeared. She looked tired, there was a cut on her thigh and palm, Michael rolled his eyes.

"Where are you going?" Rose smiled lightly, staring at Michael. "Where are we going? You mean to ask." He chuckled. "We're all taking a short family trip to good ole' Louisiana." Michael paused to straighten out the wrinkles in his coat. "Louisiana?" Rose asked, "what would we have to go do out there??" she was softly pushed back into another car, Richard following without protesting, or asking anything.
"Business." Michael answered as the vehicle was put into drive.
