Sinners and Saints

Part 7

Hermione's p.o.v

That evening before dinner Harry and Ginny came to pick her up from her dorm, mainly for Harry to have a brief chat with the portrait, but it gave Hermione the perfect opportunity to talk to them about Draco meeting Andromeda and Teddy.

"Draco talked to me about something today," she began slowly "he was wondering if we could help bring Andromeda and Narcissa back together, and I said I would help."

Harry whipped his head round to her quickly and gave her a questioning look before responding.

"Hermione have you thought about this? Are you sure we can trust the Malfoys? Have you considered if Andromeda even wants to see her sister?"

"I agree with Harry, have you really thought this through Hermione?" Ginny chimed in.

"Look I know what it is like to have a family still alive but unable to reconnect with them. It is heart-breaking and if there is the slightest chance that we can reunite the Black sisters then I will try my hardest for it to happen. I know that it is something that Narcissa wants, Draco already said that she has wanted it ever since their parents made Andromeda leave for loving Ted. All we have to do is bring up the subject with Andromeda and see if we can convince her it will be a good idea." Hermione reasoned with them.

Harry thought about it for a second and said " How about we suggest branching out just to Malfoy first? Then if that goes okay we can take small steps in getting the two back together again?"

It seemed reasonable. Hermione thought it was a good compromise and took Harry's offer and told them she would talk to him after dinner.

Three weeks later

Draco had taken Harry and Hermione's offer and he, Ginny, Harry and Hermione were off to the Tonks house.

With special permission from McGonagall, that Saturday morning the four apperated from Hogsmeade to just outside Andromeda's house.

Hermione could tell Draco was nervous, the only experience he had with an aunt was the deranged woman who had carved a word into Hermione. She shivered at the thought, but pushed it to the back of her mind as they approached the house. She could see her godson through the window, with his teal blue hair, laughing happily at the magical broomstick that was flying around his head, a present from Harry. Hermione could see the smile tugging at Harry's lips when he noticed his godson through the window as well.

They knocked on the door and Andromeda answered with her usual cheerful greetings to the three before her eyes met the steely grey ones of Draco. She smiled a sad sort of smile and then gave him an unexpected hug as well.

She ushered the quartet into the living room where Teddy was happily playing with his toys. When he noticed his godparents he started to coo, they were certain he was on the brink of saying his first word and each of them were determined that it would be their name.

Hermione in one swift movement picked up the young boy and as she did so his hair changed from its normal straight teal blue to a wavy brown, matching Hermione's hair perfectly.

Hermione looked around the room and noticed the look on Draco's face, he obviously hadn't realised his cousin's son was also a metamorphmagus. Hermione knew that Teddy couldn't control his changing hair so, to make Draco more shocked, she handed Teddy to Harry. His hair turned scruffy and black. The look of shock on Draco's face grew.

Andromeda noticed this as well and started to chuckle to herself, giving Hermione a knowing look. Ginny had caught on as well and took Teddy from Harry and in doing so Teddy's hair grew out a bit longer and turned a fierce shade of red, matching Ginny's hair.

Harry, still unaware of what they were doing, struck up a conversation with Andromeda about how Teddy was doing. Ginny handed Teddy back to Hermione, his hair changing once more, and joined Harry and Andromeda in the kitchen, allowing her a break from looking after her six month old grandson.

Hermione, who was bouncing Teddy up and down on her hip and pulling silly faces at him making him laugh, looked up to see Draco still staring at the baby with a very confused facial expression. Hermione laughed once more and asked

"Draco would you like to hold him?"

Unsure of what to say, Draco stumbled over his words before managing to produce something that sounded like a yes.

Hermione handed her godson over to his cousin and watched his hair turn platinum blonde, a shade that even surprised her, never having seen his hair turn that colour before.

Draco held Teddy at arms reach, it being clear to Hermione he wasn't very sure what he was doing. It was also clear that Draco had very little experience with babies.

"Draco what on earth are you doing, he's a baby not a bomb. You have to hold him like this." She said as she repositioned Teddy in Draco's arms.

"See, how much more comfortable is that for the both of you?" She asked smugly

He rolled his eyes, he knew she was the brightest witch of her age, and he also knew she wasn't about to let him forget that.

A few hours of Draco talking to Andromeda about his life and vice versa, and Draco playing with Teddy, the four were ready to leave.

Draco looked to Hermione and she could tell it was a small plea for her to bring up his mother.

She nodded at him and indicated for them to all leave ahead of her so she could ask.

"Andromeda there was one more thing I wanted to ask you about."

"Yes dear, of course, what is it?"

"Well, I know this was a stretch and I appreciate that you meeting Draco must have been very hard for you considering the differences between your lifestyles, but he was telling me over the summer how much his mother had changed,"

Instantly Hermione could see Andromeda's face fall and her eyes had misted over, but Hermione continued.

"And I know that you two were once close, but Draco was hoping that he could some way reunite you two as a thank you to his mother and all she sacrificed for him. He also wanted to do it for you. He knew that you two had been close before... well, everything and he just wanted to do some right in the world in an attempt to make up for some of the wrongs." She finished with a deep breath.

She could see the emotions Andromeda was feeling flash on her face, before it reached a neutral emotion and she smiled a soft smile.

"This is news, I would love to reconnect with my sister," She hesitated "but I need some time to think things over before I make a final decision, so for now I'll say maybe."

"Thank you Andromeda, thank you, that is all I ask." Hermione responded.

The pair hugged once more before she joined the trio outside with a broad smile on her face.

Draco raised an eyebrow at her and she gave him a subtle nod implying she would tell him all the details later.

Hermione also noticed Ginny looking a little disgruntled and Harry kept stealing glances towards Draco, looking anywhere but at his girlfriend.
