26. "May I have this dance?"

Mila's POV

Nate and I made it to the prom quickly and it already seemed packed. After we got out of the car he took my hand as we walked into the gym.

Before you could go anywhere inside you had to take a couple of photos which we did. We made the regular prom pic and then one where he kissed me and another goofy one.

Afterward, we walked inside holding each other's hand. They made the gym look super pretty, there were silver stars hanging from the ceiling which was covered in pink and purple balloons.

The lights were in a pink-purple color and everything matched the theme making it look so beautiful. "They really made the gym look pretty", I smiled. "They really did make a good job", Nate smiled.

"Hey I have to go to the team real quick but safe me a dance okay", Nate said and quickly kissed me before walking off to his football team.

I made my way to the table where all my friends were sitting at. "Wow look at you, you look gorgeous", Maddy smiled as she saw me. "Look at you girl", I smiled and sat down next to her.

Rue looked somewhere and got up from the table, "I'll be right back", she explained and went somewhere I assume outside. Jules got up as well to go to the bathroom.

"I'm gonna go dancing", Maddy smiled and walked onto the dancefloor. "Do you think we will remember this moment?", Cassie asked looking around.

"I think we will", I smiled at her. "But people keep saying that the high school was the best time of their lives, for some reason I don't think so", Kat mumbled.

"That's because it was the last time they could dream", Cassie explained. We all stayed quiet and enjoyed the moment.

Nate's POV

After I talked to the football team and we took a couple of photos together I got a call from my mom so I decided to walk outside.

It wasn't anything important she just asked if Mila would sleep over and wished us very much fun. As soon as I hung up I noticed that I wasn't alone outside.

"You look very pretty tonight", I smiled at Rue who walked up and leaned beside me. "Have you ever done anything illegal Nate?", Rue asked me.

"What are you talking about?", I asked acting confused. "I'm talking about your dad", she smirked.

"Don't say anything you would regret", I said to the girl next to me. "I don't think you should be talking like that because I personally have no problem with walking into any police station and telling them that Nate Jacob's Daddy likes to fuck little kids", she said threateningly.

I knew that I was screwed and that she had the power to destroy not only mine but my family's life.

"How does it feel loving someone that will leave you?", I asked knowing it would hit a nerve. "What?", she asked confused.

"I'm talking about Jules. She's not like anyone else, she had very real dreams. Most of the people in there will keep living a life that is not fucking worth it mentioning but she will have one. Where are you in this?", I asked in a low voice.

"I honestly don't fucking care, but what about you?", she asked. "What about me? I have a beautiful girlfriend that could actually be the one for me we have equal dreams I'm safe rue", I said.

I started walking back inside before turning around one more time, "You really look beautiful tonight".

Mila's POV

"Honestly I think Love is super dark and no one talks about it", Cassie stated before Kat stood up and walked over to this guy she has been talking to. Ethan was his name I think.

Apparently, they had some kind of crisis but seems like she was fixing it right there.

"Let's go dance", Nate said as he approached me. "Sure Babe", I smiled and took his hand that he had held out for me to take.

We walked to the dancefloor and started dancing to the music, there was this couple who kept dancing close to pop songs which was super weird if you ask me.

We kept dancing just like the rest of our friends. Cassie and Lexi joined us and that's how the night continued.

I was so glad to be at home here, my friends were amazing and I loved them with all of my heart. Kat had already but Maddy, Cassie, Lexi, and I were dancing together a little enjoying the moment of all of us having a good time.

Rue and Jules were nowhere to be found but I couldn't think about them in the moment.

After the girls started splitting up again a very slow song came on "and now everyone grab a partner", the DJ smiled.

"May I have this dance?", Nate asked cockily. "Shut up", I giggled as he pulled me close to him while we started slow dancing together.

"I really love you Mi", Nate said looking down at me. "I love you too", I smiled and kissed him while everyone around us was dancing with a partner. "I honestly think we are meant for each other, I've never been happier in my entire life", Nate whispered.

"Really?", I asked looking up at him. "Really". "You wanna get out of here?", I asked smiling wanting to spend more time with him alone.

"Fuck yes", he grabbed my hand as we made our way through the crowd.

I took a last glance around the gym seeing everyone I loved dance and be happy made my heart flutter. They all looked so happy and completed.

Then my eyes wandered to the guy in front of me, never had I ever thought that one day I would be dating the Nate Jacobs, but I guess sometimes things just work out in another way, no matter how much you can plan you will never really know what is going to happen. That's why every single moment is beautiful in its own way, every single one is just...

...different.
