Welcome back y/n! (pt.13)

In the morning y/n tries to walk again and it works but it really exhausting. She's able to walk outside. She sits down at the outside wall of the hut. Suddenly she hears some familiar voices.

Newt: We knew how she'd react. I told you guys.

Gally: How she yelled at me. It was horrible.

Alby: We need to calm her down.

Gally: How? She won't let us get to her.

Alby: Maybe to one of us.

Silence.

Newt: No guys! Please!

Gally: Please Newt! I ask you as a friend.

Newt: Okay but I don't think that it'll work.

She hears steps and walks back in. Seconds later Newt comes in. Y/n was sitting on her hummock.

Newt: Hey y/n.

Y/n: Do you agree with them?

Newt: Listen we just want the best for you.

Y/n: NEWT! You know how important this is to me! How could you do that?

Newt: I- We just want to protect you.

Y/n: And you think that keeping me away from the things I love is helping me?

Newt: You still have me!

Y/n: Do I?

Newt: What does that mean?

Y/n: It means that there's nothing between us anymore! You destroyed it Newt! You destroyed us!

She walkes out while tears are running down her face. She puts all her anger and sadness together and starts running. She runs into the forest and sits down at a tree. She sees the 'map-hut' and remembers Newt's and hers moment over there. She looks up and lays her head on the tree trunk.

???: Hey?

Y/n: Who are you?

???: I'm the new one here. My name is Zart.

Y/n: I'm y/n.

Zart: I know. They've talked a lot about you.

Y/n wipes her tears away.

Zart: What's wrong?

Y/n: What?

Zart: You were crying. And you can tell me. I mean we're a big family 'round here, aren't we?

Y/n: My boyfriend betrayed me with my brother and my best friends.

Zart: What did they do?

Y/n: I'm a runner. I mean I was until they said I won't be anymore.

Zart: Why?

Y/n: I don't know. They said it's too dangerous but I mean Ben and Gally are going in there too.

Zart: And what do you want?

Y/n: I want to be a runner of course!

Zart: Then tell them.

Y/n: I did.

Zart: Then convene a meeting.

Y/n: Great idea! Thank you Zart!

Y/n jumps up and runs back to the hut. Y/n found Alby pretty fast.

Y/n: Alby?

Alby: What is it y/n?

Y/n: I want a poll!

Alby: What?

Y/n: I think the gladers should decide what'll happen to me.

Alby: Okay!

They walk over to the hut and Alby rings the bell which is there to announce that a meeting starts now. Soon everyone sits in the hut.

Alby: Y/n talk!

Y/n: I don't know if you already know but I'm no longer a runner.

A murmur goes through the crowd.

Y/n: They are trying to get me away from the maze. So I wanted that you can get the chance to vote. I mean we're a big family, aren't we?

She smiles at Zart.

Alby: Now. Who's for y/n getting a new job.

Only Newt, Gally and Ben are raising their hands.

Alby: And who wants y/n to be a runner.

Everyone else raises their hands.

Zart: Y/n should be a runner!

Y/n goes over to Minho.

Y/n: Thanks for voting for me.

Minho: You're a good runner. We need you!

She hugs him and then Zart.

Y/n: Thanks Zart!

Zart: You're welcome.

Newt looks jealously over to them.

Gally: C'mon man. She won't cheat on you with Zart the Fart!

Newt: She can't cheat on me anymore. She broke up with me.

Gally: I'm sorry man!

Newt: As if! You are happy about it! Now your little girl is safe!

Gally: Newt-

But he's already walked away.

Gally: Why?

Y/n: What?

Gally: Why did you broke up with him?

Minho, Ben and Alby: What?!

Y/n: None of your business.

Gally pushes her at a wall and presses her arms against it.

Gally: TELL ME NOW!!!!

Alby: Gally stop!

Minho: Leave her! C'mon man!

Gally: SHUT UP!

Y/n: Gally! Please! You're scaring me!

She starts crying.

Gally: TELL ME!!! IT'S MY FAULT NOT HIS! YOU BROKE HIS HEAR Y/N!!! WHY DID YOU DO IT?!

Y/n*crying*: Gally please!

Minho and Ben: GALLY!!!

Now Minho and Ben are pulling him back. And y/n slips with her back at the wall on the ground, crying.
