Supper was finished, with minimal conversation, dishes were washed, again with minimal conversation. Now we had been sent upstairs to 'let our food settle' before going to sleep. Even though Harry and I both knew that was code for 'we don't want either of you around' considering they disliked us both and they had let precious little Dudley stay downstairs for dessert.

Not that I minded though, I was glad to be away from them, it took so much effort to try and get along with them. While they were distracted and I finally had some peace, I decided to write some letters to all my friends to see how they were enjoying summer so far.

It didn't take too long to write the letters, about 40 minutes. Now that they were all written and sealed, I decided I should start to get ready for going to sleep, only thing was, Dudley was hogging the bathroom so I had to wait. I would get to sleep at some point tonight.

Summer was starting to come to an end, only a few weeks left until the new school year starts. I couldn't be more excited even if I tried, the Dursley household was hell on Earth.

The main thing I was excited about, other than leaving, was seeing my friends. I had sent them all letters many times over the summer but hadn't received any back. Not a single one, not even from Ginny.

Even though that hurt me, I didn't let it ruin the fact that in just two and a half weeks I would be back at Hogwarts. I mean, everyone was probably super busy, just because all I had to keep me entertained was housework, didn't mean other people had an equally lousy summer.

Today started the same as all the other days, except that today the Dursley's were going out on a family day to the beach. That meant that Harry and I had the house to ourselves all day.

Of course they locked all valuables away and hid all the money, because who can trust two wizard children, right? Not that it mattered, neither of us were dumb enough to steal anything.

This was the first day I got to properly relax in weeks, so I was going to take full advantage of that. Obviously they gave us housework but we could just do it super fast later.

Right now though, I decided to sit down and spread all across the sofa and watch TV for as long as possible. I have to admit these muggle tv shows were pretty entertaining sometimes.

About halfway through the program, there was a small knock at the door. I turned my head to look at Harry, his face mirrored my expression.

"I'll get it," he whispered before quietly getting up.

"No you stay here, we don't know who this is," By the tone of my voice, he could tell that I wasn't taking no for an answer, and so he sat back down.

Slowly, I made my way down the hall until I was right behind the door. I inhaled deeply before placing my hand on the doorknob. My palms were clammy, breathing uneven and I had goosebumps all the way up my arms. Trying not to show how scared I was, I pulled the door open calmly.

A huge wave of relief washed over me and I felt my entire body untense. I could finally breath. To my delight, Oliver was stood there, big beautiful smile and everything. This was amazing, I wasted no time, and pulled him into a rib-crushing hug.

"What the hell are you doing here? Did you get my letters, why didn't you write back?" I mumbled into his neck.

Slightly startled, he pulled back, "What? I came here because no one had heard from you all summer. And I sent you loads of letters. We were all worried about you, and Harry."

"But I've been writing weekly, and I haven't received anything. Are you sure you sent them to the ri-" Then it hit me.

Harry and I weren't allowed to get the mail after what happened with him and the owls last year. Instead, Dudley would get the mail for them, he also took the letters that Harry and I wrote down to his parents ready to be mailed.

"That sneaky bastard," At this point I wasn't speaking to anyone in particular, rather I was just whispering to myself.

"I'm confused."

"Dudley, he hasn't been sending our letters and he hasn't been giving us our mail. I bet that slug has a whole stash in his room."

"Well, I'm just glad you're ok. For a minute I thought you had forgotten me, so I checked with the Weasley's and when they said they heard nothing from you, I convinced my parents," he turned to motion towards the end of the street, "to bring me here and check on you. Also, I got you a present."

He handed me a small, black box tied with a red ribbon. This was so unexpected, I was flustered.

"Open it," he prompted, biting his lip out of nerves.

Excitedly, I pulled open the ribbon before placing it in my pocket. My eyes met his as I opened the box. When I looked down I saw a clear-blue pebble.

"It's the pebble that was stuck in your shoe throughout our entire first official date. It's not much but I'm just happy you're okay."

"That's so sweet. It's hell here and I can't wait to get out but yeah, me and Harry are okay. Thankyou for coming to check on us, you're a great boyfriend. And again, thankyou for this," I placed a soft kiss on his cheek, fingers tracing over pebble, reliving that day.

"Boyfriend?" He stepped back, fully letting go of me.

"Yeah... Why is that not what this is?" My heart started pounding and my cheeks blushed bright red.

"I'm just kidding." Before I had time to push him, he enveloped me in a warm hug.

"That was mean, that was so mean." I couldn't help but laugh a little bit though.

It had been about two hours since Oliver payed us a surprise visit, Harry and I knew the Dursley's wouldn't be home until late this evening, so we invited him and his parents in for hot drinks.

Unfortunately, we were now saying our goodbyes before doing all our housework. Even though it wasnt that long, it was mentally refreshing to not want to suffocated everyone in sight, and I was very grateful for them coming.

Harry and I waved as they apparated out of view and just as we were closing the door, I spotted Uncle Vernon's car pull up outside. Without hesitation, I slammed the door and turned to look at all the housework that we hadn't yet done. We were doomed.

There weren't very many options here. I can't do magic, I'm a minor. I can't time travel, that's impossible. I did the only thing I could think of on the spot, and locked the bolt on the door. Time to clean this house in record speed.
