Realizing that both of us drenched from the rain, I stopped kissing her lips.

Both of us panting, trying to catch our breath.

"I'm sorry, but—"

"I know. I know your reason for the kiss. So, don't say it. Hearing from your own mouth hurts a lot," Jessica said coldly as she turned her face away from me.

Seeing her sad expression made me felt an instant's squeezing hurt.

"Let's go and buy some clothes for you," I said softly as I offered my hand so that she could wrap it with hers.

She smiled as she took my hand.

"But, I hope someday you are going to accept me, Ashley," She said in a low voice, and I couldn't hear it.

We went to the vintage thrift shops, and there are so many beautiful clothes,, and it's cheap too. Then, we buy essential things.

I glanced at her. "I'm sorry, I couldn't buy you much,"

"I'm happy with anything you bought for me, Ashley. It feels like we are just a normal couple, walking around, freely, and with some money issue," Jessica chuckled.

I changed the subject. "Let's go and meet Sapphire and the twins,"

She nodded, slowly.

We went back to the place where we should meet. However, Sapphire and the twins weren't there.

Instead, there's a strange code they left for me.

A cat and A mouse.

"Goddammit!" I clenched my fists in rage.

"Ashley? What happen?" Jessica asked anxiously.

Enrique's men have been lurking in this city. They noticed us, and now we are in the game of cat and mouse.

It's what Sapphire trying to tell us.

Sighed. Now, I should find a safe place for both of us. Luckily we have some money here.

"Let's find someplace for now," I grabbed her hand.

"I'm sorry, I'm such a burden to you. Right?" Jessica said sadly.

She looked hurt, and somehow it ached my heart.

Is she a burden? I have no doubt that she is. Yet, she's both my strength and my weakness.

I ignored her.

As we walk, there's a kid selling caps.

"Hey kid, do you know where we can live for a while? I prefer it to be cheap too," I spoke in Italian.

The boy nodded happily. "My neighbour owned a beautiful inn and the cheapest too! I can bring you there,"

"Thank you," I smiled as I bought two caps from him, one for me and one for her.

"You are so beautiful that you stand out too much," I said as I put the cap on her head.

She blushed.

"Let's go," I said to Jessica.

We followed the kid. And to our surprise, it's the middle-aged woman from the Carnival!
