She is Wary

-Flashback Before the Trial-

-Ashley

"You are not going anywhere, right?" Jessica asked me.

I shook my head lightly. "I'm going to meet Sapphire, right after you fall asleep,"

"Then, I rather stay awake,"

"You have to get enough rest. After all, it's been quite a long day. And, your leg hasn't recovered yet," I kissed her forehead as I gently caressed her stomach.

Jessica smiled as she placed her head on my chest.

After a while, she finally falls asleep. Gently, I placed her head on the pillow.

I walked towards the living room, and Sapphire was waiting for me.

"So, what's the result?" I asked, anxious.

"Yes, indeed. She's pregnant," Sapphire said as she smokes. "Why you don't trust her?"

"Well, it's Jessica, that we are talking right now,"

Sapphire chuckled. "But then, you are lucky that someone like Jessica Huttington loved you so much that she went through everything for you. Ashley, I hope you'll cherish her since everyone would die to have her smile at them,"

Unaware, I sighed hard.

"Why are you sad? You don't like it?" Sapphire asked as she patted my shoulder.

"Are you blind? I'm smiling right now,"

"Gosh, if I could bring a mirror here and let you watch your own face... Sigh, listen, Ashley. You may fool everyone, but I can read your facade,"

I sighed, hard.

"Jessica... She asked me to forget everything, for our child... She said I should not stain my hands again. If I love her and my child, I should forget everything and let the law punish them," I breathed out before I continue,  "As much as I love her, I couldn't forget those scumbags. Even now, my hands trembled in rage. Even right now, I keep on imagining to torture them,"

"If that's so, you should ask her to reconsider having a baby now. It's not too late for an abortion,"

I flinched, to hear that word. Abortion?

I sighed. "Isn't it weird? I'm sure I can kill someone without second thoughts. Yet, I couldn't bring myself to kill my own child who I never met yet? I never met my unborn baby yet I want to protect it, with all of my heart?" 

I chuckled lightly, "It fascinates me,"

"I'm sorry for saying that option," Sapphire said sadly.

I shook my head lightly. 

"Though, I agree that the thoughts of having a child scared me. Honestly speaking, how can someone like me, who can kill someone without second thoughts, to be blessed with something that is so pure and innocent? That feels so wrong to me. I couldn't help but think that God will punish me through them,"

Because, I couldn't afford to lose someone precious to me again. I don't think my heart could take it again.

I was lost in my thought before my phone vibrate. I glanced at my phone and saw Clara's text.

'I'm waiting for you at the usual place, now,'

I replied to her.

'I'm busy'

However, my message only 1 tick.

I gasped, "She's so annoying," I rose up from my chair.

"Where are you going?"
