“Ryan, Ryan!” I cried as his tall figure faded away down the empty corridor in the opposite direction from me.
“Charlotte, I can’t talk about this right now, I’ll meet you back at your place at five.” He stuttered as I watched the last of him disappear around the corner.
I don’t understand what just happened, he just bolted out of class, not the normal Ryan I know. He hadn’t spoken at all during that class. If it was anything his mum had done I swear I will kill her. I've known him almost my entire life and I can tell when something is seriously wrong.
As I walked out the school gates my phone started playing to the familiar tune of my ringtone; One Thing by One Direction. Checking the caller ID I answered to a very concerned James.
“Hey Char, what’s up with Ryan? He’s not answering his phone and I haven’t seen him since maths.” James said with concern obvious in his tone.
“Oh, well, he went home during lunch time, he got sick and was brought up to sick bay but Miss Stevenson rang his dad.” I managed to make up on the spot; I wasn’t that bad of a liar. Though the only reason I lied was because I didn’t know how serious this was or whether Ryan wanted anyone to know.
“Aw okay Char, thanks, I was just worried.”
“No problem Jammy, I’m sure he’ll be okay.” Jammy is the name I always call James when he gets concerned about others.
“Hey Char, wait till I get my hands on you!”
“I could beat you blindfolded Jammy,” I said stifling a laugh.
“I got to go, see you on Monday.”
“Bye Char, love you!”
“I know Jammy!” I said smiling as the phone disconnected.
Along with Ryan, James is another one of my friends that I have known for years and years. He moved to the house beside ours when I was six. His mum and mine became really good friends and went to book club together. When we were younger we would go over to eachother’s house almost every day. I loved going over to his house as it was a way to get away from my younger sister, she was non-stop crying and crying every day. It’s easy for us to come over to each other’s house since we live so close. James still comes over to my house sometimes since I live alone now. About six months ago mum and dads business went bust and they ended up jobless. The only job they were offered was in America. Me, mum and dad talked about it a lot and we ended up agreeing on the three of them going over to America and I would stay here in Ireland to finish my last year of school.
The six of us pretty much grew up in this park together, it was our childhood, going to each other’s house’s all the time or going down to the park to play on the swings. It was a thing our group of six did. Our group of six contained me Ryan, James, Dan, Lexi and Mollie. We all lived in the same park together so we could go to eachothers house whenever we wanted. I know it seems a bit unrealistic but this was how we all met, and since the town we live in is so small we all ended up going to the same school together. Since I do live alone now everyone frequently comes over to my house whenever they want just to keep me company which is really nice of them but sometimes they take it overboard. Like when I go home and find them in my house watching TV, it’s like a spare house for them. Even Ryan has a spare key so he can come over when he wants even just to get away from his family for a night. When I say his family I mean his mum.

“Ryan, Ryan! I’m swinging higher than you, ha-ha.”
“No you’re not. James, push me higher!”
“Lexi, come here quick. I need you to push me so I can beat Ryan,” I pleaded.
