Ryan’s POV.
Is that, no it can’t be. How? What is going on? My mum wants an abortion? But she’s not even pregnant. Why is she even asking where the abortion clinic is? I’m sure there’s a perfectly good explanation for this. I know although she hasn’t been a perfect mother or anywhere near that there is no way she was pregnant and was going to have an abortion. I believe there’s still some sort of good left in her. I could feel something in the pit of my stomach, shock, confusion, repulsion, hope? Whatever it may be it is digging deeper and deeper. I began to get a headache, all those questions in my head just fighting to get answered. How come it’s every time something good happens in my life, just the smallest thing, she’s there to ruin it. To completely destroy any happiness gained in my life.
“Charlotte, wh- what’s going on?” I manage to say, with a stutter, I couldn’t believe what I had just heard.
“Come on Ryan, let’s find your dad,” she said, just as confused looking as I am. But something gave me a vibe that she knew something about this, like she was trying to avoid it.
“Wait, what do you mean, you just heard what she said, what’s going on?” I demanded looking for an explanation.
“Just come on so we can find your dad,” she stated calmly, how could she be so calm in a situation like this and why do we need to go find my dad. Anyway wait till he finds out about the abortion, never mind the abortion, wait till he finds out that mum’s pregnant and it’s pretty obvious dad isn’t the dad. He’ll be furious, how can this be happening? Crap. I took a moment to think. What about Isabelle, what’s dad going to tell her, he can’t tell her that mum is freaking pregnant and is going to get rid of the baby. How could she make such a mess of everything in such little time? She’s a disaster.
“Dad,” I called down the corridor to where he was walking with Isabelle. He glanced up at me with concern but I managed to see the relieved look in his eyes which indicated that Isabelle is okay.
“What’s the matter?” he asked with confusion written all over his face. He looked down to where Isabelle was standing, signaling for me to not say anything that she shouldn’t hear but I couldn’t.
“It’s mum, she was here a minute ago, I know you’re not going to believe me but she’s pregnant,” I blurted out with worry and seriousness spread across my face. For a minute I looked at dad and this news seemed to come to no surprise to him at all. He seemed calm, but kept a serious face. Did he already know? What if he did? Maybe this isn’t news to him at all, I began to get angry and I could feel my face becoming red and hot.
“Charlotte could you take Isabelle out to the car please for a moment, we’re parked down the road outside the hairdressers,” dad said turning around to Charlotte gesturing to the door before handing over the keys.
“We will be out in no more than five minutes,” I looked at dad confused, what was going on, was I about to get the lecture of a life time are was this serious, what was he about to say?
“Ryan, I know your mum’s pregnant, I would have told you sooner but I couldn’t find the right time. You seemed to be getting back on track after the kidnap. I didn’t want to drop anymore drama on you,” I tried to get a grasp of what he was saying, everything was just muddled up in my head, mum is pregnant and the father is a drug dealer, how can she make such crap out of her life. For a moment I was brought back to what dad had just said, I feel anger bubbling inside me but I quickly calm down when I take in what he was saying. I knew he was only trying to protect me but still I had the right to know.
“Dad I had a right to know, you could have told me. How long have you known for? I bet she was pregnant the whole time. Is that why she left us?”
