We stood there for a few moments in shock; I could see the horror in Steven’s eyes. It was as if he was about to strike a knife right through Robert and nothing was going to stop him. Not anything could stop the pain. Good thing Robert wasn’t anywhere close because it wouldn’t be good for Ryan if his dad ended up in jail and his mum a drunken now knocked up prostitute who does drugs.
Not saying a word he dropped the pregnancy test on the ground, turned around and walked out of the room. For a minute I just stood there dumbfounded. Susanne’s pregnant?
“Are you coming? Bring your phone this time,” he shouted up the hall. What the hell just happened? I thought.
“Yes, I’m coming now,” I stuttered, quite confused. As I ran down the hall after him shutting the door behind us as we left the house. Hoping that’s the last time I ever step foot in there.
We got into the car and Steven began to speed down the road, it was like one of those awkward journeys where no one talks but you feel the need to talk. It felt like the longest drive ever, we sat in silence and without even playing the radio. I couldn’t help but sit fidgeting in the car trying to think of something to lighten the mood as I do in an awkward situation but nothing came to mind.
When we got back I went straight home to get ready for school tomorrow; going back to the same routine as usual. As soon as I got to my room I collapsed on my bed and pulled out my phone to text Ryan.
‘Hey Ryan! You coming to school tomorrow? Char X’
Almost immediately Ryan responded.
‘Hey Char, yea I might as well, I can’t be missing anymore work. Ryan X’
‘That’s great I’ll come over to yours in the morning, night Ryan! Char X’ I texted back with a smile on my face.
‘Night Char! Ryan X’
I placed my phone on my bedside table avoiding the many objects placed there including my laptop, stack of uncompleted homework, my lamp and bottle of BPM. I walked to the end of my bed and picked up my fluffy blue towel and grabbed my pyjamas to go get a shower.
~
Half an hour later I was out of the shower, in my pink owl onesie with my hair smelling fresh of apples as usual. It was half ten now and I realised I still had that stack of uncompleted homework piled on my bedside locker. Lots of history and maths homework due tomorrow morning; my worst enemies. I hopped back onto my bed, propped my pillows up and slid under the covers sitting upright. I opened up my homework books on my lap and began the dreaded homework.
“Shit!” I mumbled realising that this would be the second time I forgot to do the homework if I didn’t get it done in time for tomorrow.
Okay, I’ll just open my books and have this done before eleven, right? I thought, hopefully. Boy was I wrong!
‘Question 1’
‘The Vietnam War- What were the tactics used by the Americans against the Viet Cong?’
“I’m so screwed!” I sighed to myself. History just bores me to death, like what even is the Viet Cong? I thought.
Okay maybe I can answer the next question I thought hopefully.
‘Question 2’
‘The Vietnam War- What were the Viet Cong tactics against the Americans?’
For fuck sake, I’m so screwed, who needs history anyways? It’s all in the past guys, move on! I thought closing my books in defeat.
Oh god, its eleven o’clock now, well my time management is horrific. I’ll get the homework of Mollie in the morning my mind told me as I felt exhausted and could really just collapse on my bed into a fairy tale dream where I don’t have school or any homework; so I get to sit and watch TV all day while eating any food I can find. If only I had the metabolism for it.
‘Beeeeeeepp’
Looking around my bed for the source of the beeping noise I finally found my phone lying under the stack of books. Sometimes I wonder how that happens. Picking up the phone the message read:
‘Hey Char, u coming to school tomorrow xx? Mollie’
What a coincidence, I thought.
‘Hey Mollie, yea I am! Do you think u could lend me your history homework tomorrow? Char X’
‘Yea, no prob, g2g see you tomorrow x Mollie’
‘Thankyouu x Night! Char X’ I smiled placing my phone down on my dressing table.
Ah, what are friends for? I thought mischievously.
Okay, maths homework next; fractions, my worst enemy.
~
After about a half an hour I was finally done the ten maths problems and I was totally knackered. I ran over to the wall beside my bedroom door, flipped the light switch off and ran back to bed tucking myself in under the warm covers. As I closed my eyes all I could think of was what happened over the past few days. How Ryan must be feeling and what Steven is thinking about now that Susanne is pregnant.
“SHIT!” I wonder has Steven told Ryan. What the heck is Ryan going to do when he finds out or will Steven not tell him since there planning on just blanking Susanne out of their life? I really have nothing to do with Susanne so it’s not my right to tell whoever I want, not even Ryan. So I’ll have to leave it to Steven to tell him.
Crap its one o’clock! I only have seven hours to sleep now. I shut my eyes and all thoughts vanished from my mind.
