Chapter 13. Miracle
Here you go...
"You know what, let's go to your place. I'll make ya feel even better."
"What?"
"What? We're going to your place and I'm gonna make you something to eat and then I'll leave for the shift while you rest."
"Noo, Mrs. Jogers will kill me if I miss my shift."
"I'll take care of that, don't worry. Come on."
"No Josh. I'm not going home."
"Well, you are definitely not coming to the library with red eyes and that face."
"I'll be fine."
"I'm not asking you. You are gonna go home."
"Nooo... I don't wanna be alone. Atleast let me come to the library. I'll sit there."
"Did you not hear me? No work, rest at home."
"Pleaaseee. I really don't want to be alone."
"Fine. But no work. I'll talk to Mrs. Jogers and work for your shift as well."
"What, no Josh. I'll work it up later. You don't need to work in my place."
"Seriously. You trusted me enough to tell me everything and now you don't trust me to work your shift at a library? That really hurt Kate."
"Whoa... first, stop spending all your spare time with Drake and second, it's not about trust, it's just that I don't like to be in debt with anyone."
"Yeah, I agree the first one but not the second. I'm not going to ask you to work in my place in future. Though, if you want to you can. It gets really boring to see the same faces every week."
"I know, but that doesn't mean I don't owe you. I really don't like to be in debt with anyone. Please understand."
"Oh I can't. Come on, you're gonna sit in your corner and rest while I'll work the two shifts."
"Drake has taught you well, I do not have any option, do I?"
"Nope."
"Okay then."
They went straight to the library. Josh made Kate sit in her usual place and was gonna go to Mrs. Jogers room when she herself came towards them.
"Kate, my child are you alright? Why are you crying dear? What happened to her, boy?"
"She did that to herself, it's not my fault. By the way Mrs. Jogers I wanted to ask if I can work for her shift too along with mine? I don't think she should work with that face."
"You're right boy. Kate, why don't you go home?"
"It's alright Ma'am, I'll be fine. And Josh can have my company if he.... gets free for sometime."
"Yeah actually. Don't worry Ma'am, she'll be just fine," he said.
Mrs. Jogers agreed and Josh set out to work. He came back when he was free but for most of the time he'd go and help the members to find books. He'd just completed his shift when he came and dropped down beside her.
"Why did I take this job in the first place?" he asked resting his head on the table.
"You were in need."
"I am tired... why can't everyone learn where which books are and how to issue them, so that we don't need to work?"
"Well, if you don't wanna work, I can," she said getting up.
